AVH4100NEX USB & HDMI connection problems

Recommended Posts

Put in the 4100 last week, updated to 1.3 on the firmware, installed the micro brake bypass, & am running Lollipop 5.0 on a Verz Galaxy S5, Using the 3.0 USB Samsung cable that came with the S5, it will not recognize the phone on Android auto. It is connected on USB2. Using a MHL to HDMI powered cable (powered in the console power port) that mirrors perfectly on my LG tv, but the 4100 will not recognize it. Both of these functions are why I bought this head unit. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You just use a normal USB cord in the USB2 slot to use Android Auto (USB1 is for Carplay). You shouldn't be using any other cables (HDMI, etc) for Android Auto. Just plug the USB directly into USB2 and it should start up. If that doesn't work, maybe try a nor USB cord instead of the USB 3.0. I use a cheap $5 USB cord I got from Fry's, but I never tried with the Samsung's USB 3.0.

On the HDMI I meant I had tried it both ways, not together. I am pretty sure USB1 is for Apple & USB2 is for Android. I will try another USB 2.0 cable instead of the 3.0. I am wanting to try AR Unchained Reloaded on the HDMI side but Lollipop seems to be a PITA to root as of now. Thanks for the responses, oh the joy of early adoptivity!
