Lucky45
I'm new to xm radio and would like to know what is needed to install xm on my 8000nex? Go on crutchfield.com and enter your car details. After, search for the unit you have then go under details. There you'll find which xm adapter you'll need. I just recently got one for my 4100 - Best Buy had it for 50$ but I got them to price match Amazon + use a 10% off USPS Mover discount for a total of 37$. Also if your vehicle originally came with Xm from the factory you might be able to use the OE antenna.
joemamma1954
SiriusXM SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner, is the latest tuner that will hook directly to your head unit. http://shop.siriusxm.com/xm/ctl10600/cp56879/si6635220/cl1/siriusxm_sxv300_connect_vehicle_tuner
sherrod833
Does the antenna have to be on the outside of the vehicle?
RAVpioneer
I have seen posts from people that say they have the antenna mounted on the dash with no reception problems. However, according to this link, SiriusXM does not recommend that. https://shop.siriusxm.com/edealinv/servlet/ExecMacro?nurl=control/CategorySupport.vm&ctl_nbr=10600&catParentID=58751 I purchased an adapter cable (VAIS Technology SFA12F) so I could use the existing antenna on the roof of my 2012 Toyota Rav4 with the SiriusXM SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner and my 8100NEX. I loose reception when I pull into my garage, go into parking garages and a few other locations, which is the same reception I had with the factory XM radio.
