jhren
Don't know for certain... does the hard drive exceed 32GB? If HD is plugged into USB1, also possible it will not go to USB2 to see if a USB stick is plugged in there.
joemamma1954
According to the instructions, no other device can be connected.no sdcard, no hard drive(except the blank sdcard you are updating with) I would even remove cd/dvd if one is in slot. Emergency brake on, or bypassed.

493008
You have to get SyncTool from the 8100 to run on the USB stick before Navtools on the computer will see it, in addition to it being up to date. Unplug EVERYTHING from the 8100, hard drive, phone, SD card, etc. Turn on your car and wait for radio to boot up, and Navigation to start. Start the SyncTool. Plug in an actual USB drive when prompted by SyncTool.

When I tried SyncTool the first time, it simply told me I had nothing connected. It gave me no options to plug in anything. I am using an SD card as well. I don't have a USB drive with the Micro USB connection.
Tim98TA
Unplugged hard drive, that was plugged into USB 1. Still nothing. Here are the screen shots of the only thing that AVICSYNC does.

Yes, I tried plugging the phone in to associate it, but the only thing that happens is Android Auto starts.
Tim98TA
Wouldn't it be nice if they just went back to the old way of doing it. A - download update on SD card. B - plug SD card into HU. C - enjoy update.
493008
You are in the wrong place, you are looking for SyncTool, not AVICSYNC. And you need to use a thumb drive, not the phone. Don't know why I didn't see that. Anyway, I tried SyncTool with an SD card last night. It would not reckognize it. My hard drive is in USB1, so now I have to either buy another small hard drive(Has USB 3.0 Micro-B connection) or try to find a female USB 2.0 to female USB 3.0 Micro-B adapter. Haven't had any luck yet tho.
