omarrodz
I am not sure what (if anything) I have done but all of a sudden the GPS audio does not project through the speakers. I mean, I can hear the text-to-speech from the main unit in the dash but no longer through my speakers. The same thing is happening when my phone is connected via Bluetooth. The calls (audio) is only heard from the main unit in the dash (not through the speakers anymore). The speakers are working fine. I use an iphone and music from the phone via itunes can be heard without a problem through the speakers. I just did the 5.0 update without a glitch, and I was hoping that would fix it but it looks like it has something to do with the settings - the update had nothing to do with the problem I am experiencing. Does anyone have any idea of what it could be and how to fixx it? I went through the manual but couldn't figure it out. Thank you!
omarrodz
OK. After reading all threads, I decided to try increasing the volume of the SLA to +8dB (max) and it all started working fine. I turned off vehicle, got back in and we are back to square one. The settings remain unchanged but the problem persists. Also, I moved the Fade all the way to the front. If I had a faulty BT, I wouldn't be able to listen to music via iTunes/Pandora/etc. So, it is got to be something else that is not registering well. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Should I reset to factory settings? If so, are there any implications in doing so? If I was to reset to factory settings, could I upgrade directly to 2013 USA/CAN maps as shown here: http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/38472-2013-usacan-maps-download/ ? omarrodz
I just wanted to bump this thread. I am still having the same issue and have not been able to figure it out. I have tried the settings suggested in different threads. My BT works when I pair it to listen to music, Pandora, Youtube, etc. BUT when I make/receive a call, it switches to the speakers of the GPS unit. Navigation does the same thing (the audio from it comes through the unit itself and not my truck speakers).... I am lost!

There are no speakers in the headunit. So you must be talking about external speakers. Do you have more than 2 speakers wired in your vehicle? Just a guess but it sounds like you have the front/rear speakers wired to the headunit wrong. NAV guidance and phone calls only go to the front speakers. The fader has no effect. Neither does SLA or the volume control. Anyway, it sounds like you've got something wired wrong, and/or your settings are wrong. A hard reset (disconnecting battery), followed by a factory reset won't hurt anything. You might have to re-pair with your phone. Other info that might be helpful: how many speakers are there? do you drive the speakers directly from the HU or do you have an external power amp? do you have a powered subwoofer? do you have a wired remote (steering wheel controls)? anything else special about your installation? BT used to work for calls AND music. Now, it only works for music. If it was wired wrong, it would have never worked, right?! Navigation TTS reflects the same problem - sounds like if a ghost was giving me directions....
