EvgaGaming
From the Pioneer website, here are a list of phones that are compatible with AppRadio: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/UnAssigned-Content/Android+Compatibility The problem with this list which was last updated on June 14, 2015, is that the newest phones on this list date back to 2013. I would like to get a new cutting edge Android phone (featuring Lollipop 5.0 at the very least) on the market that is fully compatible with AppRadio. When shopping around for one of the newest flagship Andriod phones with at least Lollipop 5.0, how will I know it's FULLY compatible with AppRadio if it's not on the official Pioneer list? PaisanNYC
The pioneer head units listed on that page are all models also. Get a LG Nexus 5 or Motorola Nexus 6, both flagships designed by Google themselves. this way you wont have any concerns
EvgaGaming
PaisanNYC: Great to know that th LG Nexus 5 and Motorola Nexus 6 possess full/100% compatibility with AppRadio. The Nexus 6 has a whoppin $150 price drop as seen here: http://www.androidcentral.com/best-buy-and-amazon-offer-150-discount-nexus-6 With this $150 discount, I may just have to get one of these hotcakes. EvgaGaming
I'd like to get additional thoughts from everyone else. In your opinion, what is the most cutting-edge/flagship Andriod phone out there that gives full/100% compatibility with Appradio?
EvgaGaming
Does anyone know if the new LG - G4 is fully compatible with APPRADIO?
kcdc
If you want cutting edge Android, then you should go with pure android, in my mind. That would be the Nexus line. They always get the latest updates first, with nexus 6 having the highest res screen. I had a LG G3, which was great, but provided zero compatibility with Auto or AppRadio. That being said, I wouldn't bet on their G4 doing it, since it's the same phone with a few new things. I haven't used my Nexus 6 for appradio yet, just Android Auto. I've been curious, and I have an authentic slimport adapter, so I will try to test it this weekend.
EvgaGaming
Thanks for the input on the Nexus 6. Right now, it's on my top 3 list along with the Samsung Note 4/5. Does anyone here have any experience or knowledge if the Samsung Note 4/5 series is compatible with APPRADIO?
EvgaGaming
If anyone else has anything to add to this thread, please do. I'd like to examine all my possibilities available before purchase.
Dr. Claw
The Note 4 is compatible with APPRADIO. If you are considering the 2015 NEX models 4100, 7100, and 8100, you will also have access to Android Auto. All you need for APPRADIO is MHL support. Which means the Galaxy S6 may not be a good choice. I think the G4 is also compatible.
EvgaGaming
Dr. Claw: That's awesome. To see that the Note 4 is compatiblw with AppRadio. Do you own a Note 4 yourself? If so. How do you lime it when used with AppRadio. Does this also mean that the coming Note 5 will be compatible with AppRadio?
dambuzbee
I started an account just to say that the Verizon Galaxy S5 running stock rooted 4.4.4 NIA with a custom recovery and the update app locked out so it won't force 5.0 on me runs great not issues. But it's just a crappy interface with limited apps even if you use app radio unchained.
dambuzbee
Also it will only work using the MHL adapter.
EvgaGaming
Another question for everyone. So if I get a phone such as the Google Nexus, will it still require me to unroot the phone to get it compatible with AppRadio or is the phone fully compatible and ready to activate Appradio fresh out of the box? EvgaGaming
All: Which MHL adaptor do you guyz recommend since there are quit a few on the market out there?
bhamitgeek
I have a 4100 and my LG G4 works just fine with the Android Auto app installed.
