Vowens
How can I bypass the restriction on watching a movie while driving?
joemamma1954
buy and install the micro-bypass http://www.amazon.com/MicroBypass-Parking-Automatic-Interface-AVH-4100NEX/dp/B00VKQ6ECQ
493008
DO NOT BUY BYPASS HARDWARE!!!!! Connect the parking brake wire correctly. The bypass is done with software only on current NEX units. Follow the instructions, skipping step 1, in the bypass sticky thread at the top of the forum. http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/38589-official-avic-nex-bypass-avic-units-only/
ScottinPollock
We're talking about the "AVH" 4100 here. Get the microBypass.
herbert68
We're talking about the "AVH" 4100 here. Get the microBypass. The OP says "NEX 4100 Movie Bypass", so, yes, it's a software only bypass, involving these simple steps: [step 1 (parking brake wire) not needed] Step 2 turn power on, push main menu button (bottom center) Step 3 touch AV icon (towards bottom center) Step 4 on AV icon screen touch off button (towards bottom) Step 5 touch quadrant 4 (half inch in and half inch up from left lower corner of touch screen) hold your finger there for about 10-12 seconds. "set on" icon will appear that means you are done.
ScottinPollock
So you have a 4100 and this worked for you? My understanding was this only works on "AVIC" units. In any event, I installed the micro bypass on my 4100 and it works fine.
cajunreb
My understanding is that this software solution DOES NOT work on AVH units. I have an AVH unit and it didn't work. I bought the bypass and it works perfectly.
herbert68
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the OP who posted in the NEX Series forum "NEX 4100 Movie Bypass", which makes me assume he/she talks about a 4100NEX. This software bypass definitely works on this unit. ScottinPollock, cajunreb What makes you assume this is about an AVH unit?
joemamma1954
The 4100 is an AVH, and it does need the bypass, read the thread. Only AVIC models with navigation only. I repeat get the bypass and be done with it. they are all NEX, but they are not all AVIC. The sticky post explicitly says AVIC ONLY.
joemamma1954
The NEX models are AVIC 5100NEX, AVIC 6100 NEX, AVIC 7100 NEX, AVIC 8100 NEX AVH 4100 NEX. The 4100 does not have Navigation, without the AVIC U-260 add on.

tracknine
Pac Tr7 and a relay will do the trick. Just need to program the TR7 for the extended boot up time. Do it all the time
