galaxy s6 edge and appradio and a android auto question

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I tried using the CD-AH200 appradio connection kid with the s6 edge but after failing, I learned it was because of a lack of video out capability on the phone.  Is anyone able to get the appradio to work with this or any of the newer phones that don't have video out settings?

On a separate note,  Is there a way to disable the phone lock that android auto does to my phone while I'm driving?

Thanks all for any help on this,

CR

Are you trying to use Appradio mode or Android auto? I've used both with my Galaxy s6.

Android Auto - just plug in the usb cable and it works if your radio supports it. Initial connection caused some problems bu it is working great now.

Appradio - I used a miracast adapter to wirelessly connect to the hdmi input of the radio. I used the Netgear PTV3000.

Thanks deathbyburrito, that really helps.   I have AA working just fine and just installed a miracast wireless connection and basically have it working.

Two things with the miracast...It seems to drop connection frequently, especially the first couple tries.   Have you noticed this?  Also, using the Appsradio through the miracast I can't use the background radio sources such as sat radio of hd radio and the appradio simultaneously.  Is there a workaround or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks again,

Chuck

I didn't have many drops using the PTV3000.  If that's the one you got make sure it is on the latest firmware.  I haven't used it yet with the 4100nex.  My experience was that blending worked on the Appradio 2 and with the 4100nex when using Android Auto.  I may try some things.

Are you just choosing HDMI on the radio to display the phone or are you using Appradio mode or just going to HDMI input?

I switch into AppRadio mode.  I think I've figured out how to cut down on the dropped connections, but really find the whole appradio experience to be basically useless.  I can't use my satellite or hd radio, and I have to keep the screen on my phone or it turns off.  Is that true for you as well?

I wanted this to use the waze app, but if I have to keep my phone on and can't listen to the radio, what's the point??
