dshealey
I have an AVIC Z2, and have loved it. However, there has been no map update since 2012, and when I emailed to ask got the answer back that they plan no more map updates for this series!!! I still get update emails from Garmin for a 12 year old hand held I no longer own. Does Pioneer feel their product is so bad it won't last more than 7 years? I do not understand this at all, especially since Pioneer gets the map information from another source. They do not have to develop it. I can understand some companies no longer offering some support for a product after a time, but maps? Map info is the key reason for owning this unit. It seems that someone should be able to offer map upgrades if Pioneer is too stupid to do so. I would suggest that no one ever purchase a Pioneer navigation unit again if Pioneer will not support maps for the life of the unit.
jwq
Though I don't agree with the Pioneer policy (I'm in the same position as you), I guess one of the reasons is that practically no one actually buys the updates, but majority of the people use pirated copies......
