If you read the instructions, which I highly recommend, you must use a USB stick.

You should be able to update directly to 1.11.  Instructions only have you verify current version is not 1.11. [insert my disclaimer here  ]

Just in case anyone is wondering, you can also use a sd card even though the instructions say otherwise.  I did this without a problem.

Did anyone notice any Bluetooth firmware update? I have the 4000NEX before and after the install the bluetooth firmware was the same HW01-SW03.21.30...... the system firmware did update from 1.09 to 1.11

You have to do the BT update after the firmware. Read the installation instructions. It's a 2-part update.

Tried to update tonight but the head unit kept complaining that the update file wasn't found. I put the AVIC5000NEX folder in the root of the USB drive and it was a no go. Has anyone had success with a 6000?

Make sure it is formated as FAT32. Drives with large capacity (over 32gb I think) don't support this format.

Has anyone noticed you can't actually download anything from Pioneer's site today? For any of the models if you click the link to download firmware literally nothing happens. It's as if they removed any links to the firmware downloads yet you can download the pdf's explaining how to apply the firmware...

I have the 8100NEX..
