avic f700bt-- CE update failed-- tried to complete update/files deleted

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

So I had the 2.0 firmware on my AVIC f700bt and wanted to update to 4.01. I bought new maps/firmware from a seemingly reputable seller on ebay. He transferred the files with complete instructions. However, when I got into the boot screen and tried to "MINCE SD Format", it got stuck on "Read Progress 100%", I tried a few times to get past this but it never updated to the "CE update ok to restart" message it should have read. I mistakenly thought that because I reset the unit and it took me into the windows screen that it was successful the last time I tried and I could proceed with the update.

I followed the instructions laid out in the guide from there and shut off the unit and tried to restart it. Now the unit is stuck on the splash screen and will restart itself in ~5 minute intervals.

I feel it is necessary to know that I did delete all files from "My Flash Drive" and replaced them all with the files included from the SD card. Everything appeared to operate fine in the windows screen and I am still able to get back to that screen, but like I said, for a normal start up, its stuck on the splash screen.

What can I do now to either successfully get my unit operational with 4.01 or at least recover the factory files and let the unit just operate on the 2.0 firmware? Everything was ok before I wanted to update, the maps were just a little old and the unit ran slowly to touch, etc. Plus I couldnt get my bluetooth to connect to any devices, I was hoping this update would fix all of that but now I fear I paid $22 so I could break my car stereo :(

Please help!
