Newbie Questions on VSS, Mute, NAV & Onstar

Recommended Posts

Ok, I know this is probably been beaten to death here, but I could not find a specific answer as I searched through posts.. So here are the questions:

I just installed a AVIC X850BT with a PAC interface into an 05 Tahoe that has/had all of the bells & whistles, It has NAV, XM, RSE, Rear DVD, Bose, Etc.

SO, first issue is with the Onstar, it seems the radio does not produce audio until I hit the Onstar button on and then off. I am really not using Onstar, so I can live without it. But it seems like I am just missing something.

2. I am a little confused with the mute wires. (This may have something to do with issue #1), but the PAC unit and AVIC both have the loop. I did not cut or attach either of these wires. What should I do? Connect them, leave them?

3. I added the bypass for the ability to set the navigation while driving (Wife usually mans the GPS). So I did not connect the VSS. I get the message that does not seem to go away from nav screen about the VSS.  Can I connect the VSS and not interfere with the bypass? Does the VSS message ever go away?

4. On the navigation, doe s anybody know if there is an adapter or way to connect the GPS to the factory GPS antenna? It would seem a simple adapter would work. Just wondered if anybody had done this?

I appreciate any advise on these questions.

Thanks Dan
