whtcrxghst
Most people remove an extra wire that they are not using (like the cell mute.) Insert that wire/pin into the "bypass" opening. Then ground the other end of that wire, and also ground the light green parking brake wire. Then you should be good to go
lolo7070avic
Ok, put the new wire into the "bypass" spot and ground it to the chassis. THen groud the green parking brake wire as well? THen is should play DVD's and control navi? Well, as soon as I get mine I will take a look and give it a shot. I will also post pics of the mod if it goes well. whtcrxghst
Yep. You can ground them to an existing ground wire too
lolo7070avic
Has anyone performed this mod and found that it didn't work or lasted only a few days?
lolo7070avic
Has anyone performed this mod and found that it didn't work or lasted only a few days? WHat is that bypass spot called? Why is it that placing the wire into that slot enables the unit to play while driving? I am uneasy about doing this mod. Can anyone verify that their units are still working after performing this mod?
whtcrxghst
Done a few of them. They all work permanently
freemurray
My Bypass is working perfectly for around 2 weeks or so now. I wouldn't use the cell phone mute wire unless you aren't planning on installing the blue tooth device. The blue tooth is the best part about the N4.
whtcrxghst
The Pioneer bluetooth piece (CDBTB200) does NOT use the cell mute wire My Bypass is working perfectly for around 2 weeks or so now. lolo7070avic
I have witnessed a AVIC N4 bypass that stopped working after 20 minutes of driving. Any ideas? I heard that the date of the software makes a difference.
freemurray
havent heard of it. did the wire come out of the back of the head unit?
lolo7070avic
No it is still in the spot. Will try another unit just to make sure and re-do the mod for the unit.
whtcrxghst
Then it was done wrong. The date has absolutely nothing to do with it I have witnessed a AVIC N4 bypass that stopped working after 20 minutes of driving. Any ideas? I heard that the date of the software makes a difference. lolo7070avic
So should the wire be reinstalled in the "bypass spot" and then grounded along with the parking brake wire?
installermarc
So should the wire be reinstalled in the "bypass spot" and then grounded along with the parking brake wire? That would be correct. Gold Star.
