X1R backlight and panel buttons problem.

Firstly, sorry if this question has been asked a thousand times before, I suspect it has, but I tried searching the forum and can't find it!

I am having problems with the screen, and the front panel buttons on my X1R. The backlight on the screen has stopped working, and the only thing that works on the front panel is the volume control, none of the other buttons work.
Googling around finds most people say the ribbon cable has gone, but I can't see how this would affect the front panel buttons as they are not wired through the ribbon cable.

 

I have swapped the screen assembly with a known good unit, and it is still the same. The screen works, and the touch panel works, but there is no backlight.

 

Any ideas?

Just in case anyone else is having this problem, new ribbon cable sorted it.
