Hello,

I am new to this forum and have read the rear backup camera issues related to the NEX radios, but did not see one that quite fit my situation.  I have my rear camera installed.  The ground wire from the camera hooked up to my brake lights, the yellow input goes to the brown input jack, and the red connected wire from the RCA jack to my head unit is connected to the purple reverse brake wire.  I have the rear camera input on and when I switch to reverse the backup camera comes on.  When I switch out of reverse, I go back to the screen that I was on before (i.e GPS).  However, ever 5 seconds, it goes back to camera view, but no video.  It doesn't matter whether or not I have this set to battery, engine or ground.

Has anyone had this issue before?   It is annoying to have to switch the camera off and then have to turn it back on again when I need it.  Does this sound like I may have a bad head unit, or am I doing something wrong?  I initially had a 4200 NEX that worked fine.  I did add the brake bypass to the 4200 which I know it is not needed for the 8200, but I left that In place.  The 4200 NEX worked fine and didn't have this problem.  My 8200 did come with the firmware upgrade already installed.

Please help so that I can know whether or not I need to return this to Amazon before my 30-days are up.  Thanks!

Apparently there is something flaky with these units.... you can see that by just googling the NEX series... I was researching my situation and found your post.... let me explain my situation and maybe someone can chime in... I have a 2005 F150 with a Pioneer AVH-NEX4100... I installed it myself about 2 years ago and the backup camera worked fine and has for the 2 years... I had it set to camera view = OFF, backup camera=on, BATTERY, etc... I wrote all settings down... so here it is 2 years later... I left my interior lights on over a weekend and killed my battery... it reset my HU settings... after charging my battery and put the setting back EXACTLY the same way... backup camera does not work when in reverse... I can see through the camera with camera view on... but no automatic settings when shifting to reverse... I made no changes... no wiring no mods, nothing... it seems I am having the same issues a lot of folks are when I google... after working with this for a day, and trying all options with no success, I did a firmware update.... still no backup camera in reverse..... I know some of you will say... "you must have missed a setting or wrote something down wrong" well, I don't think so... this unit was a lot of trial and error when I got it to work the first time, so I made sure I documented properly... I am thinking the reverse sensor input wire is just flaky....  If anyone can advise on how to fix this, I will humbly give it a try... I read somewhere that a bypass sensor can affect it, I think I did install one at one point (even though I never used it) ... any help or advice is appreciated...

Thanks
