SoCal Bodybuilder Posted October 6, 2017 Report Share Posted October 6, 2017 It's been awhile since I've been here, but I want to share what I just went through with my iPhone 6+, and the new iOS 11 and also 11.0.2. updates. I have two vehicles; one with an AVIC-8200NEX, and the other with an AVIC-8100NEX. Both were one firmware version behind, and prior to the iOS 11 update, all was working fine with all functions of Carplay. Once I installed iOS 11, everything went to heck; Pandora, Carplay kept rebooting, etc. Also, a hard failure was that the text-by-voice would not work. I could touch "messages" in carplay, and saw a list of texts, but they were not clickable anymore. Also incoming texts no longer brought a popup on the AVIC screen. SO, I checked, and sure enough there were firmware updates for both head units, and I successfully installed both this afternoon. The 8100 got v. 1.10, and the 8200 got v. 1.07. After a bit of resetting and fiddling with settings, resetting connections, etc., I am happy to report that most of the issues are resolved. HOWEVER, the most important one for me; the voice texting function through Carplay, is still not working (same condition as before new firmware). I cannot find anything online about what to do, so if anyone has figured it out, please post, as I'm sure I'm not the only one who will very much appreciate it!
