I'm a graduate engineering student working in developing open-source data collection systems for agricultural vehicles. I do a lot of PLC programming and microcontroller  setup with linux and such but I've never messed with an automotive entertainment system.

I just bought a 2006 Mazda Miata with the Pioneer MVH-AV290BT installed, and I'd like to either expand the existing ROM or install linux, with the goal being live monitoring of OBD2 data in a menu or app.

I see a ton of info on hacking the AVIC units, but would this info also apply to my MVH unit?

Thanks!
