Jsnichols2
Hi all, Was wondering if anyone has any verified experience (using an SMD DD1 or O-scope maybe) in finding the preout's clip/distortion volume level with an AVIC unit (5100NEX in this case). I'm not even sure what the max volume number is on the volume circuit but I know on the AVH line its generally around 39 or 40 but I think the AVIC uses a higher number scale? I know I can use the 3/4 volume rule of thumb but I was hoping to get a real account to better set gain. Thanks!
onebyside
My 8000 was 32 if I rem correctly.
Jsnichols2
By ear I've been able to get closer to 38 or 39 but I'm sure if it were measured it would be closer to the 32. Thanks for the help!
karmajack
I have a 6100NEX and a DD1. At 40Hz -0dB It would distort at 37. However, with 1kHz it will distort at 33.
Jsnichols2
Since I don't have a SMD DD1 I went ahead and set the gains with the volume around 37 and used the multimeter voltage-match method. I seems to play pretty cleanly up to 37 or 38, nearly no audible distortion. Thanks to all for the input!
