Dreamcatcher2007
All right, I have an Audi A6 (C5 platform). I want to add navigation to it, and I don't like the Garmin/TomTom stuff. Moreover, I like AVIC-D3. Now thw problem is there aren't many installers in Washington DC metro area that can carry an experienced install. So, I guess, someone from the board here can help me. Please see the picture of my dash. Questions: Is it possible? If yes, what do I need? Does anyone has pictures? Recommendations in DC area, anyone who knows someone? Please help. I am depending on the you, "The Experts!"

dascsh
I had a D3 in my A4. If you search under my name you will see the pics. You will need to buy the standard dash kit, then remove the center brace to put in the double din D3. Metra makes a harness that will allow you to keep your stock speakers. Be sure to get the amplified adapter if you have Bose, I think it ends in 1787. You will need to make a piece to fit between the dash kit and radio. I had a shop make it for under 50. I did not have the speed sensor wire hooked up due to the complexity and never had any issues with the nav. Doing the bypass is helpful as well.
jimmy303
I'm doing a D2 in a 2002 A6 this weekend, I've done a couple. Just make sure your installer has the proper radio removal tools - Metra part# 86-9001. I'll PM you with details....

Dreamcatcher2007
Thanks a lot DJoker, and Dascsh for your info. jimmy303, have you completed the install?? I have DVD based navigation(see attached picture) in my A6 but that is very tedious to use and complex to save the route info, therefore, I want to use avic d3.
