Guest eddie0513
Does anyone know if the AVIC-Z1 navigation unit will fit into a 2007 Chevy Avalanche? I am thinking of buying a unit (AVIC-Z1), but not sure if it will fit into my 2007 Avalanche without much modifications. Thanks! eap0108
skicrave
Yep, it will fit.
Emay
Here is my 07 AV with the Z1 installed. [img]http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/41980/IMG_5158.JPG[/img] Sorry about the size..
skicrave
Cool, was that an off the shelf kit or did you have to make the trim ring yourself?
Emay
off the shelf from Metra.. FYI, the 2006 impala and monte carlo double dins are the exact same kit as the 2007 tahoe, suburban and avalanche.
Guest
On the 2007 Avalanche Pic w/ the Z1, is that a gap on the bottom of the trim plate? If so, then the Nav unit isn't an exact fit? eddie0513
Guest
Oh yeah...and where did you get the wiring harness for the Avalnche? I was told it's not out yet! eddie0513

skicrave
Or maybe it's not tilted, and that extra space allows for the slide mechanism at the bottom? Regardless, from the normal vantage point actually sitting in a seat, I highly doubt that would be visible.
Emay
LOL, picky picky you guys are, there is a slight gap. this pic was when I was test fitting. The HVAC controls are seperate and overlap the install face, and the lower cigarette lighter section with the parking assist and pedal buttons over lap the HVAC. It cleaned up in the final assembly as I to noticed the slight spacing problem. There's plenty of room in the 07 dash to run anything you want, it's pretty rediculous actually in how much space is behind the fake wood trim panel. Metra has their harnesses out, you can order them now on line or over the phone through JP customs. Here's metra's PDF for the wiring harness for a little proof and a link to JP's product line of both the bose and no bose kits: http://www.metraonline.com/_assets/manu ... LAN-02.pdf http://www.jpcustoms.com/store/customer ... hp?cat=310 first two items are the new metra wiring harnesses.. Guest
Looks real good! If you could ,would you give alist as to what I would need to purchase to properly install the AVIC-Z1, (like dash kit(s), wiring harnesses) and whatever else I would need. Thanks eddie0513
Guest
Just one other question: Do you have on-star? I was told that on-star would not be retained if you don't connect it with certain adapters or harnesses or whatever it is! Is this true? Thanks eddie0513
Emay
eddie, if you go to the links I supplied, you will find that all of the items you need are listed. The wiring harness from metra retains all stock options to the vehicle including onstar, chimes and turn signals. Yes I said the signals, the 07 model lineup has a warning ding that kicks in after 45 seconds of driving 15mph, gets the folks that forget to turn the darn thing off. Ducati thanks for the props, I ordered your flasher mod a few days back, that will complete my project.
