ipod touch and avic d3

if you guys havent already found your answers, the new ipod touch, and the new ipod classics have video out like the old ipods did however apple disabled video out control unless you have it connected to an apple manufactured product. I know a guy that works for apple and he said he is pretty sure they will not unlock this feature. So in order for this to work you have to go to apple and purchase the audio/video out cables for the new classic or touch and connect them to your audio/video input cables on your d3. It will not work through the ipod control on the d3 anymore though. So... Good luck to you!

Thats sorta incorrect man. On the D3, with the new touch and classics, update your ipod to the latest apple firmware (yes, there is a newer one than when you bought it a month ago.) That will enable you to turn the TV out on without apple accessories. Start playing the movie from the ipod as you normally would. Unplug the ipod from the CDI200 and then plug it back in. Shazam...You have video on your screen

P.S. Heard this doesn't work on the N4 so you are right on that account

While upgrading the firmware on an ipod classic reenables the tv-out, there is no such setting on the touch that i have been able to find, not even in the latest 1.1.2 firmware. it has settings for the tv out (widescreen on/off, ntsc/pal), but nowhere to turn it on. i would steer away from a touch anyway for video, as the storage is so much smaller.

Agreed - sticky the useful posts.

Usually searches don't find shit anyway, so that's why people have to post new topics.

and tjc005 is right - there is no setting to turn on the Video Out feature and no one has had a straight answer about this - that's why it keeps coming up.

and PS: you don't get apple instructions for the iPod Touch. Just a few pages of bullshit.
