Fixed it! i didn't have it set to digital av I dont think my microbypass is working! when i open waze app i get the parking brake message and can't continue

This is my setup AVH-X5500BT - CD-IV202AV - iPhone 5 When i plug my iphone 5 in the USB/iPod button on my AVH-X5500BT lights up but when i select it i get a message saying USB not recognised. Also I can't select the apps option on the main menu of the AVH-X5500BT All cables are genuine apple products and the iPhone is running IOS 7.0.1, AVH-X5500BT firmware is the latest Any idea what the problem is?
