1. ....actually, have the same question with my backup camera!
2. I'll have the same exact question when I replace MY z120BT with a 8200....anxious to see what info you get.
3. You think YOU'RE late!? I'm 3 years late on this thread but this problem started happening to me a couple months ago on my 120BT. My system has been untouched for several years but late last year, the camera occasionally quit showing up when shifting into reverse. My connection is directly to the Reverse Light circuit and it has worked flawlessly since installation (both the camera and the backup lights). The first time the camera disappeared, I checked the little red Pioneer splicing block to see if it had come loose. I opened it up, it looked fine so I squeezed it shut again and the camera s
4. Updated my Z120 with no problems at all....except for one. I see that I now have the parking assist lines, but on my screen, they are upside down. The backup camera's image still looks fine, but the lines are up in the sky. Is there something really simple that I missed in the menus? I CAN turn them off or on, but I didn't see any preference settings other than the ones for "tweaking" the line position. Also, where do we do the donation thing?
5. Be sure you're formatting using FAT32 and not one of the Mac file systems. I'm on a Mac too, btw.
6. Don't count on them to do the right thing....speaking from personal experience. I had an AVH-P7500 system and updated a few days prior to leaving for a cross-country US trip in late 2010. I bought the official Pioneer software package and the update SEEMED to work properly. However, when I rebooted the system (after all the progress bars and status screens confirmed that I had successfully applied the updates) and the nav system was knocked completely out of calibration. Multiple resets did nothing to clear the problem....and I was within a day or two of leaving for this trip. I called Pioneer
7. I'm doing an upgrade install from my Z3 to the 120BT. I'm also adding XM for the first time ever. In the XM's installation instructions (yeah.....I read 'em....what of it? , they say the following: - To safeguard from electromagnetic interference • In order to prevent interference, set the following items as far as possible from this unit, its cables or leads: – TV antenna and antenna lead – FM, AM antenna and its lead – GPS antenna and its lead In addition route each antenna lead as far as possible from other antenna leads. Do not bind them together, lay or route them together,
8. Hi Shawn, Thanks for the update. I went from the CNDV50MT to the '80MT. This was probably the third software update I've done on this system since I first bought it and I've never had problems before. I haven't dug out the manual yet, but does the green "antenna" symbol mean that the system "sees" the antenna? The complete lack of the little electrical/lightning bolt symbols was a big clue that something got hosed in the GPS section. Well, that and the fact that the system booted up with my maps saying that I'm driving around on the Lower East Side of NYC while I'm here in Fla.!! Wonder why
9. I don't know if anybody's still going to see this thread, but I have the same setup in my car (P7500, AVIC80) and I just put in the newest map (CNDV80MT) today. The install went normally without any glitches but as soon as the map loaded, it was off by over 900 miles. When I checked the GPS antenna status, it looked the same as the thread starter.....green status on the antenna but NONE of the 8 symbols are lit. Checked the antenna connection (still in place) and did a reset of the AVIC drive (no change). Anybody else hear about how updating the map software would brick the GPS? I assume that
10.

Thanks for that info. It's all a bit discouraging, isn't it? My Explorer sits outside my apartment and is completely exposed. Your idea about putting the GPS antenna up high is sorta like what I have now, but I have considered trying to make it even MORE obscure by mounting the little antenna "puck" somewhere on the luggage rails and disguise the wire inside the rail body, if possible. BTW, with the Z1, are the XM and GPS antennas separate modules or do they combine the antennas in one little puck?
The antennas are separate pieces. W

12.
several people have already made faceplate covers for their z1's. I am making one now as a matter of fact. Its kinda time consuming but they look so stock that unless you try to turn it on you would probobly never know its not real. and most thives dont want to steal your stock ford cassette player anyway
That's my hope. I'd love to make a "plain Jane" factory radio cover for a Z1 whenever I finally get one.
13. RDS.....amazing that my crappy factory radio has it and this Pioneer, with all that screen real estate available, won't do this.
14. I feel your pain too, but in a different way. I had my AVH-P7500 destroyed (partially) by some jacka** who tried (and failed) to rip the head unit out of the dash. He managed to rip the screen module out of the head unit and left it on the floor. I don't know if somebody came by and the thief panicked or what, but he left me a broken mess. He also took off with my CD wallet that contained a BUNCH of CD's and DVD-A's that I'm only now finding replacements for. My insurance company (Allstate) wouldn't do a damn thing because (I assume) the thief didn't actually STEAL the unit!! I tried to explai
15. So we're dealing with the equivalent of MiniDisc files. Okay, at least they went with a fairly well-developed and robust compression algorithm. As much as I hate compressed audio formats, it could have been worse. ;) dave
