  1. He works at ADS, which is the company who makes idatalink, and they test all different units that want to be idatalink compatible so they would know what is and isn't going to work. Pioneer would have to be working closely with them if these features were going to be implemented, and according to ADS, that's not happening or going to happen. I feel like Pioneer owes me a refund, I've already had to pay over a $100 restocking fee for my 7000 because of Pioneers lack of 8000 info..Now I have a 8000 I have to get rid of so I can get the new 9" Alpine that actually provides these features.
  2. Nice video, glad to see Im not the only one upset. Alpine in June!
  3. You can turn the speed limit warnings off in the settings, its annoying as crap and way too much big brother for me.
  4. Thanks for clearing that up, which is exactly why Im buying an Alpine when they release in June. Pioneer should be ashamed to have touted iDatalink Maestro compatibility with vehicle data displayed and then completely not have that happen, even with future updates, ridiculous. Brian - Why did Pioneer go through all the trouble of making the NEX units Maestro compatible if they knew it was never going to happen? They even kept the "My Vehicle" button in the source menu..which now you tell me will always sit greyed out. Did they ever have an operating unit that showed vehicle data? We
  5. Nice! I used to be an Audi man...TT traded for A6...and A6 for Q7 until the Q7 wasn't big enough to hold our growing family..When they make a Suburban like vehicle we'll be back!
  6. If you look the Maestro isn't compatible but their standard harness is..go here http://www.idatalink.com/ and select what Audi you have and it will show you what it can do.
  7. Thats good to hear, when I called idatalink I was told that even when Pioneer did a firmware update the Pioneer units would never be capable of showing data. He told me only Kenwood and the new Alpines would be capable of that.
  8. I just grounded the green parking brake wire to an existing ground point on my steering column, then did the steps. I drove down the road and everything was working. With my 7000, I installed a $20 bypass and it worked the first small trip around the block but then every time after that when I was in drive it wouldn't work at all.
  9. Ok, 8000 vs 7000 impressions: I used the 7000 a lot the last 4 days since we took it out of town, and I can tell you the 8000 is no doubt faster, just moving through sources and menus, and the Sirius album art loads instantly on the 8000 with no delay. As for the screen, it is a lot nicer and more responsive, and I noticed the backlighting goes way up so Im hoping in the daylight it won't get as washed out as the 7000. But Im calling Pioneer tomorrow and asking them whats up with the OBD II wires on my idatalink harness and why I have to look at a greyed out "My Vehicle" button when that
  10. i just removed my 7000, my 8000 will be here tomorrow and I should be able to slap it in since most of the hard work is done already, i'll check these issues out.
  11. Hey Diablo, what phone number did you use to to get through to Pioneer?
  12. Im not too impressed with my 7000, I have the backlighting turned all the way up, it washes out easily. I have the 8000 coming tomorrow I am swapping it out with and Im hoping it gets better.
