  1. Ok, Dane186 I had the same problem as you. Well I still have i actually.I have a new AVIC N-4 from September 2007. What year is yours? I started to drive away and then it cut out on me and when I came to a stop the buttons and video came back. What should I see when I start up the unit? Should I correctly connect the wires for the brake and then do the bypass? Or just do the bypass and that is that? I get the caution message that the brake wire was not properly connected. Will that message go away if I fix the bypass wire again?
  2. So should the wire be reinstalled in the "bypass spot" and then grounded along with the parking brake wire?
  3. No it is still in the spot. Will try another unit just to make sure and re-do the mod for the unit.
  4. I have witnessed a AVIC N4 bypass that stopped working after 20 minutes of driving. Any ideas? I heard that the date of the software makes a difference.
  5. Has anyone performed this mod and found that it didn't work or lasted only a few days? WHat is that bypass spot called? Why is it that placing the wire into that slot enables the unit to play while driving? I am uneasy about doing this mod. Can anyone verify that their units are still working after performing this mod?
  6. Has anyone performed this mod and found that it didn't work or lasted only a few days?
  7. Ok, put the new wire into the "bypass" spot and ground it to the chassis. THen groud the green parking brake wire as well? THen is should play DVD's and control navi? Well, as soon as I get mine I will take a look and give it a shot. I will also post pics of the mod if it goes well.
  8. I can see where to install that wire but where does it connect to? Does that wire have to be pulled out then installed in that empty slot? Sorry, the pictures don't explain much more than what is going on directly behind the unit. Can anyone explain this?
  9. I have read the forum that adresses this issue and would like to know if anyone has had any problems with the BYPASS mod. Please let me know and if possible please OM me and let me know if you have pictures to send. I am unable to view the pictures on the forum page. Thanks! Also I would like to know if anyone has any updated info and maybe a step-by-step instruction on how to do the BYPASS mod for the AVIC N4. The guy and the shop told me it was not possibe but I won't believe him until I find out for myself. Is the BYPASS dangerous to the system? Will it ruin the Unit?
