  1. Why? I don't know. Check to make sure your antenna is connected, i.e. fully inserted, snug fit, etc. Wiggle, rotate, or otherwise cause contact points to rub. Check reception while doing this by keeping tuned to a weak station that you know reception should be better. Another possibility is your vehicle may have an amplified antenna, and the amplifier lost power (blown fuse, open short), or perhaps went bad altogether. If still no luck and you have the means, temporarily connect a different antenna to the head unit. Or connect your vehicle antenna to a different head unit (a bi
  2. I pretty certain it is only for external equipment connected to the AUDIO MUTE lead (its yellow with a black stripe on my 8000).
  3. I assume the x100 series is the same as the x000 series for which is the operation manual I'm looking at. For USB/SD, the unit has Folder Browse and Music Browse modes. The latter is default and uses tag information rather than folder/file structure for playback order. Also by default, that play order is alphabetical by the song title [tag]. Random play is invoked by pressing the soft key that looks like a double helix with opposing arrow strands. Suggest you refer to the operation manual for greater detail...
  4. Seems to me that you have an accurate understanding.
  5. While the base operating system is the same as a so-called smart phone, it isn't that smart.
  6. User EQ is set to flat automatically during the AutoEQ calibration process. You have to EQ to your taste afterwards if you do not like AutoEQ flat (when ON).
  7. AutoEQ tunes your flat setting to "flat hearing". Before AutoEQ: Flat PRE > Flat EQ > Amp > Speakers = Not-Flat Sound After Auto EQ: Flat PRE > Flat EQ (AutoEQ ON) > Amp > Speakers = Flat Sound ...................or: Flat PRE > Adjusted EQ (AutoEQ ON) > Amp > Speakers = Not-Flat Sound, but EQ'd to your taste. At least that's how it works in theory.
  8. Yes, you will need an adapter module. I suggest an idatalink Maestro SW: http://maestro.idatalink.com/product/product/product_id/101

I believe delay-off feature is through under dash module. There are likely accessory circuits that turn off with key OFF... but you'll have to find one. I have a 2000 Express. The courtesy lights have delay-off feature, but not the HU (on OEM circuit). I have heard of newer models doing what you observe, and it is likely the GM/Chevy engineers had a [not-so-...] bright idea to put the HU on that delay-off module. I have done a fair amount of custom wiring in my Express. I bought the Service Manual (it has electrical schematics) and it has been invaluable to that end. IIRC it was a
  10. If you don't typically use your NEX when your truck is not running, an easier solution may be to find and connect to a circuit that remains energized while the key is in both RUN and START positions. Better yet would be a circuit that's hot in all positions other than OFF, but such as circuit is highly uncommon in modern vehicles. So the downside is your NEX won't boot or stay on in the ACC position. If you want to power the NEX in the ACC position and not run the truck, install a SPDT switch, common terminal wired to NEX "ON" lead and the other two each to the new and old circuit. NEX may
  11. I can't tell you whether connecting VSS is necessary, better, or not. I connected mine and that's that. The Naviextras Toolbox application isn't only for head units. It's also used for handheld units. Handheld units get connected directly to the PC. Headunits use storage media to transfer files. You must insert blank SD into head unit first, and run SyncTool, so head unit can write your license, map files, versions, etc. to the SD card so Toolbox can validate your head unit and determine what mapping software is on it.

Ditto... reboot the HU. AFAIK, anyone with a computer understands the need or desire at times to do a reboot. ))

Red in quote means U.S. He's wanting his local Canadian cities.
  14. You can adjust the SW level in settings, but IMO it's too deep in the menu system for on the fly adjustment. When AutoEQ is applied, "Flat" is the result of the measurement process. It's like having two EQ's hooked up in series with one having a no-tamper panel and only a single hole for operating the on/off button.
