  1. thank you Hyperite, I thought that was correct, just wanted to get a clear answer. thanks again !
  2. so, just so I understand and I have read all the posts, for the Avic-Z1 people, all Avic-Z-1's are by-passable after this update using the 2-wire method? no matter what month/year Z-1 you have and even if you didn't do the Bluetooth update? so, all you have to do is do the update, and the 2-wire by-pass and your good to go, correct?
  3. that Audi one is great, how about one like that for a 2003 Ford Explorer?
  4. it's factory installed....bought it from the dealer and it has a 'Ford' factory installed rear dvd system. I'll take pictures when I get home.
  5. yes, as soon as I get a chance, I'll ask the installer....but... even when we had only the rear unit, the children always used the remote for everything and I never used the factory head unit except when they didn't want to use the head phones, I had to set the sound on a certain station....so, it could be heard through the speakers. so, you will lose that ability....the rear dvd will only be heard via head phones...that's the only thing I can think of that I lost. but, I'll check with the installer to make sure.
  6. if I knew what they did, I would have added that information. The main question was 'can it be done', and the answer is 'yes'. How, is another question. your right, just saying 'yes', doesn't help those that install it themselves, but it may help someone who goes to an installer asking for it to be done. when I go back to the installer, I'll ask the question of how they did it.
  7. I have a 2003 Ford Explorer, with the rear dvd system (Factory Installed), and my installer installed the Avic-Z1.... I'm able to have the children watch a dvd in the back, and I'm able to watch a different dvd upfront using the Avic-Z1....of couse, I only watch it while stopped. The oem head unit is setting in the box in my garage that the Avic-z1 came in.
  8. tillithz: "and it goes on and on. Why would you be so heartless to insist on ducatiboy to do the testing whether or not he has the ability to "fix" the fix.? its clear many other people want a broader test done so that the fix can be more completely determined. This way if more people are involved with the actual use and testing, you wont have possible "bad media" or "burned to fast" or other issues. That is what is lame and deems people as a leech to insist on others doing all the work. Understand that even if a hard drive can be re imaged and brought back to fix the fix, its time and eff
  9. because some don't have the ability to restore their hard drives, that's why....have you been reading what happened to ducatiboy? he said he'll test it, and he has the ability to fix it, if it messes up, which it did, so why not let him test it? No need for everyones hard drive to screw up. And, it's not lame.
  10. well, if your a seller, which I'am, you would have some on there...like for using your pocket pc phone to use eBay, and if you use any outside auction listing software (which I do). I have 3 on mine.
  11. yep, that's the bottom line I guess a lot of folks are awaiting with crossed fingers.
  12. ducatiboy, this is worrisome... woodman171 has a pre-July 07 unit and his worked, but he hasn't tried the 'connector 2 bypass' yet... your trying with a pre-July 07 unit, and it won't make it through the update. On different brands of cd's even. I have a pre-July 07 unit, and was waiting to see if the 'connector 2 bypass' would work after doing the update. I don't have the 'flasher' installed, so if it didn't take the 'connector 2 bypass', I still wanted the ability to flash the lights, so that's why I'm waiting for someone to test it out on a pre-July 07 unit. now, I'm glad I
  13. woodman171, you could just try the connector 2 ground bypass and see if that works. Since your flasher doesn't work anymore, I would try that.
