  1. High pitched whining noise is usually attributed to a poor ground, I would check ground connections before you bother spending any more cash an a harness that will do the same thing as the one you're using.
  2. Check the firmware on your unit, I know that I had several issues with a new 8000 that shipped with version 1.03, once I updated to current release 1.08 many of the issues went away.
  3. OK I recall why I didn't or couldn't use the XM antenna in my 07, in the convertible the XM unit is located behind the drivers right arm in the area called the waterfall, in my standard C6 the XM is located in the B Pillar over the drivers left shoulder. I originally wanted to mount the S-XM unit back there but the control cable was only 18" long and I wasn't able to find an extension adapter. After realizing what it would take to mount the unit in place of the factory unit I just decided it was easier to mount the new unit in a small space right behind the radio and mount the antenna abo
  4. Just a hunch but given that the auto makers are not going to release product until late next year that takes advantage, I would expect Pioneer to come out with a new product next year that also takes advantage and "hopefully" will have a software release for the current NEX product that will incorporate.
  5. Check pages 14 and 15 of the install manual, I think you're missing some connections to get video into the 5000. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/AVIC-5000NEX_InstallationManual011014.pdf
  6. You actually just brought up a very interesting point, recording engineers today are mixing in a fantasy world, everything is compressed beyond belief, vocals are artificial and so highly auto-tuned because the industry keeps signing people that in reality have no vocal talent. Even with great singers they are still using the tools in the software pallet to fix things that don't need fixing, I blame Cher and Do you Believe for this, that was one of the first examples of auto-tuning that I can remember. BTW, the music itself is so over-compressed that to me it's not music anymore, but you have
  7. In all honesty the processed sound is thin, it's missing all the bottom end which the manual basically states, the setup will play with filters (pg 172). In the end it may deliver a sound that some might find awesome in fact I bet that installers could use this with their customers and say don't touch it ever, it's setup just for your car, but once you play a piece of music that you're intimate with (my personal testing favorite is Tower of Power What is Hip) and you'll find the deficiencies in their setup. As for controlled situations in commercial sound, nothing farther from the truth,
  8. Sadly a little late since you dash is all sealed up but any way to verify if they spliced into the harness correctly? I know that with my install, since I did it myself, I spliced together rear camera wiring with the main harness as the aftermarket harness has all the connections on there that I needed, no need to run wires to the e-Brake or splice power in at the rear tail lamp, it was all there for me in the dash. Wondering if in your case something is in the wrong place. Also what settings are you using on the head unit for your install, battery, ground etc.
  9. I think that the aftermarket really needs to find a way to standardize OEM antennas or make adapters that won't have too much cable loss that you can run just like they do with the FM terrestrial radio antennas. I have an 07 Vette and purchased the SVX tuner as well and didn't like that I had to find a new location for an antenna and even run an antenna period considering there was one there waiting for me. The factory antenna didn't work for me but it would have been awesome considering on the vette the XM antenna is in the mirrors and I had to mount mine in the dash under where the old cente
  10. I had a similar issue but you really can't go by another users settings, you kinda have to find your sweet spot yourself.
  11. I replaced the standard GM / Delco Bose in my 07 Vette with the 8000, aside from the obvious (BT, Camera Input, MP3 and everything else that the Delco can't do) it's just a solid unit but I've not replaced the speakers YET! I smell Infinity Reference door speakers in my extremely near future.
  12. I find this funny because after setting up my 8000 and running the system through a pink noise and time alignment I realized just how screwed up this unit is compared to some of my pro processors like my DBX Driverack 260 that I use in commercial sound. What I find odd is the manual states that after pinking the system the EQ will return to Flat (which it did not it stayed on Powerful), it's also odd that the unit doesn't display the new curve into either Custom 1 or Custom 2 for you to see what the environment looks like post processing. The funniest thing however were the calibrati
  13. OK so I finally had success and in part thanks to grizz, I connected the Samsung MHL adapter with HDMI and USB and the phone and 8000 magically seemed to pair up after the pop-up asking me what connection I wanted to use, I choose HDMI and voila I'm up and running. I don't have a rooted phone so I can't experiment with the true controls that seem to be so popular, that's next BTW, but I do have the Pandora option on the menu, I can make and receive calls, S-XM works perfectly, I've even let my daughter enjoy Maleficent while driving down I-10 at 85 MPH! I will experiment with rooting this
  14. I'm really getting the impression that this unit is designed to work with an Apple product and Android is an afterthought. After finally getting all the cables ordered and everything installed, I've discovered that in no way does my unit work the way all the video's online at the Pioneer site show, probably because they only demo the units with Apple products! I have tried for 2 days in vain going back and forth between cabled and bluetooth and something as simple as the Pandora App on my phone doesn't come up with the radio interface much less the option that says Pandora in the menu lik
  15. I have a kitchen counter full of gear waiting to be installed into my vehicle and I keep putting it off because I keep finding things online that guide me to ordering another cable or another adapter and while I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel the last and final hurdle just came up. When I ordered my 8000 I also ordered a Pioneer CD-AH200 kit which seems to have provided all the cables one would need to connect an iPod on USB 1 and a Galaxy Note on USB 2 and be able to enjoy all the coolness that is the 8000. I was online earlier and found a video by M Sylvester on YouTube ta
