  1. Agreed. Check the Yellow wire, it needs to be powered at all times.
  2. If you prefer to Keep the iPhone and avoid the Play-Skol Android - Just use the AppRadio Mode. It works perfectly with Waze and Google Maps. The downside is that you can not use the USB for audio. The lightening to HDMI interface doesn't pass USB, only power.
  3. Apple has made it clear that they will NOT lock out the normal usage when CarPlay is in use.
  4. I love my 8000. CarPlay works wonderfully. SXM and HD Radio both work great. UI is 100x better than the stock Toyota Nav that it replaced. My only complaint that I've ever had with it is that the audio "blanks out" when you adjust the EQ. And maybe the crappy voice quality on the TTS, but I use CarPlay for NAV more than the built-in.
  5. The countdown starts from the first time that the unit sees a GPS signal. From that point, you are eligible to receive the latest maps released within 45 days of the GPS signal. So, if you got your first GPS signal on Jan 1, and they released a map update on Feb 14... and it's now Apr 6, then you are permitted to get the Feb 14 update for free. If that update was released on Feb 15 (46 days after) you would have to buy it, but you are still allowed to get the previous update. At least that is how the Naviextras support rep explained it to me.
  6. Same with the 8000. The camera comes on almost instantly, and then will flash off and back on with the "Image may be reversed" once the unit boots.
  7. The problem is with your subscription. Note that you have a SiriusXM tuner, and their site shows the channel lineup for Sirius tuners. I had this problem too, and argued with several support agents until they changed my subscription to one that includes the extra channels. Now I get them all.
  8. There is a reason why the "hint" in there. And yes, for the most part, people will assume that you stole it. You can check for a local Pioneer service center, they can check the serial number. If it hasn't been reported stolen, then they will unlock it.
  9. I'm pretty sure this won't help, but here is my "Siri" button.
  10. I love my 8000. I have an '09 Camry Hybrid with the JBL Navigation. When the NAV died I replaced it with the AVIC-8000NEX. I also ended up replacing the stock speakers with two sets of JBL P963 and a set of JBL GTO328. As of now I have the stock "800 Watt" amp. I'm quite happy with the system, though the amp is a little harsh on the highs. Pick up any of the NEX line and I'm sure you will be just as happy.
  11. 800x400 JPG is your best bet. you can search google images for NEX wallpaper and find some nice ones.
  12. Apple is not limiting the apps. The app developers need to make the app CarPlay compatible. The stereo works as a second monitor, so the app need to understand how to display content on it, using the CarPlay API.
  13. Check you GPS status and make sure you have at LEAST 3 sats, the more the better. Also, if you GPS is in the car, make sure you have it mounted on a sheet of metal, the metal needs to be larger than the size of the GPS antenna. Even better, if you can ground that plate.
  14. Both of our Mic's are mounted in the headliner above the mirror. No echo issues at all.
  15. what firmware is on your 8000?
