  1. My unit turns on the display when the Speeding notifications are turned on and I go over the limit. You can have several setting for this (visual and sound warning), maybe you only have the visual warning set and that is why it turns the screen on...the bad part is you can't have only sound warning without the visual.
  2. Hi rjoc, bushnig This is very intresting stuff for us NEX owners. Could you please post an update about the project? I would happily donate for this cause if you have a pay-pal.
  3. Hi guys, I made the upgrade on my F960DAB (european version of the NEX 6000) and had the same results (No Bluetooth). In adition my HDMI input wouldn't show up any more either. Installed the NEX 8000 firmware, in hopes that this would activate the HDMI, but still no luck. As far as I can tell the firmware kit is the same for all NEX devices, and once installed based on the model number it changes the available options on the unit. I was scared for a moment that I have permanently lost HDMI input even after reverting to 1.08, since it wouldn't show up, but after a factory reset everythi
  4. fail0verflow is on Avic411 as the user Bushing, you can read it in the first post of this topic: http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/38859-nex-runs-android-and-other-useless-info/so just send him a private message...
  5. There are discussions in the NEX part of the forum. NEX is the branding for the AVIC-F960 series in USA. There are two users (rjoc and bushing) that are working on this.

This is the response I got from Pioneer regarding AVICSync: "We understand your request and are also very troubled with the (continuous) delay of AVICSYNC. Betaversion cannot be released as it needs final approval by Apple."
  7. ptkdude, your NEX-5000 has removable buttons, if you remove the buttons the power cuts to the unit, just like removing the ignition key, thus no need for an additional switch. As for the illumination, I have the same problem, in Europe it's mandatory to drive with the headlights on even during the day, so the light switch signal is completely useless, for the moment I have added an in-line switch as well. A far more elegant solution would be from Pioneer to integrate a timered dimming feature (set the time when you want the HU to dim the light). My old HU, an 8 year old JVC KW-AVX800 had
  8. Yes, Robmack, you are correct you only need to input the password if the unit or car battery was disconnected from the car. As for the blinking light, the unit does not have this feature.
  9. What do you guys think? Personally I don't think they will change anything, but at least I tried. My real hope is in the guys on this forum who are trying to hack the OS. It would be really nice if we could install 3rd party apps like VLC Media player, Tune in radio, or even hook up a 3G Dongle to one of the USB ports... That would really turn it into a Networked Enternainment eXperience
  10. This is my response to Pioneer after I got the reply: Hi, First of all thank you for the reply, I would just like to clarify some things. regarding 1.) I was thinking of this, because I saw that there is already an app (Pioneer ControlApp) to control household devices via a smart-phone. Could it be possible to adapt it to the F960? regarding 2.) I understand and know how to view subtitles from DVDs, but could you modify the software to be able to view subtitles from SD/USB files as well? Regarding 3.) What do you mean by "regular video"? The ChromeCast dongle outputs video signa
  11. This is the response I got from Pioneer Europe: Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your email, your enquiry has been registered in our system under reference number: Pioneer ticket ref nr: #### 1. Pioneer never issued Control App for HU's. However, this feature is taken into account for future models. 2. Subtitles can only be selected on disc format (DVD, CD, ...), not for SD cards. Procedure on how to operate/display the subtitles is written op page 167 in the manual. 3. True, nice solution you found to overwrite this spec. Unfortunately, video can only be mirrored via AV board when r
  12. Hello Everybody, Two weeks ago I bought the European equivalent of the NEX-6000, the AVIC-F960DAB. The HU is really good, sound quality is great and love all the features it has in theory. In practice not all of the features are implemented as good as it should have been. I've written to Pioneer about these issues and thought I should share the experience with you guys. Maybe if more of us open a complaint on Pioneer Support we can get these things sorted out. This is what I have written them: Hi, I bought the Pioneer AVIC-F960DAB a couple of days ago, and installed it in my VW
