1. I have a Euro Car, a VW, and was wondering is installing my navi as simple as just reversing the yellow/red wire hook-up or do I need to get the CONNECTS2 or PAC adapter....any help or experience with CARBUS interfaces would help!...thanks!
 2. did you have to get the CONNECTS2 or PAC adapter?
 3. off topic a bit, but did you connect the yellow wire to the red wire when connecting the harnesses? I am trying to figure out how to configure my F7010 to only turn on when the car is on.
 4. how did you hook up the unit so that it only turn on when the car was on? Do you have the yellow wire connected to the red?
 5. I tried installing this last night and the unit works fine but this was all functioning without keys in the ignition. What do I need to do to make sure the unit cuts on and off Witt the ignition? This is in a 2006 passat
 6. Ok, I had everything connected, hooked up and ready to go. The unit was working beautifully. HOWEVER, there were NO keys in the ignition and the unit was ON!!! AND IT wouldnt cut off. As long as the harness was connected, the unit stayed powered on. Even when I put the key in it stayed on, and then would take the keys out, shut and lock the car, the unit continued to stay on. This is on a 2006 VW Passat, so can someone anyone please help me figure out what this problem is?
 7.

my concern is that it is this damn hot almost everywhere...its summer, so why wouldnt this be happening TO EVERYONE with this unit....
Because it isn't the outside temperature that is the problem, it's the temperature inside your dash where the Z1 is installed. If your Z1, which has a fan on the back to cool the unit, is pressing directly up against something in the dash so little or no air is flowing through the unit then your unit will overheat while someone else who has good airflow won't. Check how much air can flow where your
 8.
If you do a search, another poster had the same problem. Essentially, I was right, it was an environmental issue (too damn hot). The Z1 has a nominal temp operating range, and on a hot day, I was exceeding that range, which caused the unit not to boot up until the temps came down. That is why it would not work when it got real hot, but later on, when the day cooled down, it would work again. Not sure if this translates excatly with your situation, but that is what happened with me.
my concern is that it is this damn hot almost everywhere...its summer, so why
 9.

I have even tried turning the car off and holding reset to no avail...with the AC running...I dont know what else to do...it wont come back on....it just sits at the Pioneer screen....I am completely clueless...and I live in MD and the temps are in the mid to high 80's...so its no heat wave here...any more info would be great!
Maybe it's time you talk to Pioneer... 10.
Outatime- I feel your pain. Mine is doing the exact same thing (minus the back up camera). I work in an industry that deals heavily with hard drives and I just can't see it being the hard drive. For instance, it's been hotter than hell here the last couple of weeks, and the Z-1 will not work more than it does work, so I am thinking, this is a thermal issue. Metal expands with heat, so maybe they disk platters are expanding just enough to throw the head alignment off. I know if I hit the reset enough or (oddly enough, hit the "open screen" button enough) it will work.[/qu
 11.
Well i talked to one of the techs at pioneer to keep you guys updated. He basically concurred with me. Basically from my understanding if the temperature gets too hot it won't run the drive like BSecrest said. Thats why i would hear the xm or ipod or radio. don't use the library much. Unfortunately Don't think there's a resolve for this issue as since this unit is harddrive based. But like I said to him i'd rather have it cut the hard drive and wait for the car to cool rather then fry a 2000+ radio. Lil sidenote for this cause i was hitting the reset button and every
 12.
I've never had that problem...and believe me...the inside of the car gets pretty damn hot here!
i really need a resolve for this issue.
 13.
I had the same issue. I think I finally found the root cause. The hot weather. Someone else posted on here with the same problem and it clearly states in the owners manual the operating temps of the unit. Sure enough, a hot summer day in Kansas, with a black interior, the temps rose above the max temp allowed, and the Z1 got stuck on the Pioneer splash screen. Sometimes a reset worked after the car cooled down a little. Don't worry about the warranty, just give Pioneer the name of the local authorized Pioneer dealership (they won't know the difference if you tell them yo
