  1. I called Pioneer to make sure the files were right. According to them, even though the name is saying AVIC5000NEX, it's the correct FW. I'm not exactly sure why they can't use a better, less confusing name, but the Pioneer rep I spoke with even told me to refer to this instruction guide which also says the oddly named file is the correct one. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/PUSA/Car_Electronics/Firmware%20Update%20Files/NEX%20&%20SPH%20iDataLink%20Maestro%20v1.09%20&%20v1.10/Maestro%20FW%20Update%20Instructions%204000NEX.pdf I installed it on my unit which is now
  2. Has anyone had any luck using a mic such as this http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ECMCS3-Omnidirectional-Stereo-Microphone/dp/B0058MJX4O/ref=pd_sim_229_61?ie=UTF8&refRID=0YM6VGV50E6G93HR9QZX connected to a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter so it plugs into the NEX? I am wanting to install it in the same location as the factory BT mic, but i'm assuming from what i've read on this site, that ends with muffled audio quality and poor voice recognition. I'm hoping this more powerful mic and its noise canceling features fix that. If not that particular mic, has anyone had success with other, smaller mics
  3. I called a parts dealer for my car and I can buy the steering wheel controls with the answer/end buttons and voice control button then install that in my car rather easily. My concern is that these SWC were not compatible with my factory radio. Are the answer/end call and voice button compatible with the NEX4000 using the Metra steering wheel controls unit? Also, if I do buy these controls, will the voice button work to launch Siri if i'm in CarPlay? What about if i'm connected using Bluetooth?
  4. Has anyone experienced a bug with CarPlay where you tell Siri to send a new message to someone and Siri instantly has the body of the message as "one" then I have to tell Siri to change the message and it works as it should? It's an odd bug, and i'm not sure if maybe my mic is picking up some sound which Siri thinks is me saying "one" or if this is a known issue with either the NEX line or CarPlay. Anyone know if firmware 1.09 fixes this? I have 1.08 and i'm going to update after some research on 1.09. I don't want to update if there's a lot of issues.
  5. I just got the NEX4000, and I can't find any options to stop my phone's ringtone from being played through my car's speakers. I've turned off "Ringtone" in settings, but that didn't help. I've also called Pioneer which also didn't help. Has anyone found out how to fix this? The ringtone is obnoxiously loud when i'm listening to music and get a phone call. I would prefer if just my phone would ring then display the call control options on screen using CarPlay.
