  1. Anyone know if the Galaxy S7 will work with the AVH-4000 NEX? Obviously no Android Auto, but I can't seem to find squat about any HDMI Adapter/etc. for the S7. Thanks!
  2. Thanks, guess I'll have to do that. Sucks that the display dims immediately and then causes apps to not work that are supposedly Carplay -enabled. Perhaps Apple doesn't actually test these "carplay" apps at all? I mean if the point of dimming the phone is so you don't have to fiddle with it while driving, it makes it stupid to break carplay apps by dimming the screen so they don't work unless you fiddle with the phone.
  3. OK, so it seems that if my iPhone 6s is in carplay mode, and the screen saver/timeout kicks in, that I am unable to launch/play iHeart Radio. You push the icon on the Pioneer 4000 NEX (latest 1.11 firmware) for iHeart radio and it goes to the black screen that says iHeart Radio and nothing happens. wait several minutes. Nothing Now, observe that my iPhone screen is black. So i click the button to wake it up and voila, iHeart Radio starts finally on the Pioneer unit. Is this working as designed? I thought that while your phone was in Carplay mode, it wasn't locked?
  4. Maybe this still works? http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/80945-upgrading-nex4000-to-nex4100-work-in-progress/page-7?hl=%204000nex%20%20bluetooth%20%20update (just updating the bluetooth?) Granted, it'll maybe put it at 3.41.10
  5. So for those of you with iPhone, do you like Carplay better than Appradio? I'm in the process of "learning" Carplay (I have the 4000NEX and was using Android with Appradio and the NetGear Push2TV thingy because the HDMI is very unreliable at least with my Samsung Galaxy S3/S4). 1) I see/know that Carplay has limited apps compared to AppRadio. Probably the only ones/things I miss are Waze since the 4000NEX doens't do google maps (at least with Android). 2) I like the Siri control, but I don't like that I can't use the Source button on my steering wheel to "stay" in carplay mode a
  6. LOL, yes, just got a used iPhone 6s and it works well. Unfortunately I have to use the short cable that came with it, as you apparently cannot use a USB-A "extension" cable to get it to work. So I'll have to see if they have like a 6' Lighting to USB cable.
  7. Great, thanks! So I don't need to buy a Lightning to USB cable, I can just use that to plug into USB (1 or 2, I can't remember off the top of my head), and reconfigure the head unit to Carplay? Nice!
  8. I've got a Pioneer AVH 4000 NEX with the "carplay" firmware update. However, right now I'm using Android. Since AA will not come to this head unit, I'm curious about trying carplay. I'm a little confused as to the connectors required with an iPhone 6s (I don't have one yet, I'm just asking). It sounded like it USED to be you had to have an AV adapter, HDMI cable and the USB cable in order to connect the 4000 NEX to the iPhone. However: With the latest firmware update, what is needed from a connectivity standpoint to the 4000 NEX from the iPhone? Second: Does Carplay use "sir
