I need a much clearer picture of what was below that wire you tacked on and maybe a pic of a guide you used to do the mod then I can help you. In the mean time from your description it sounds like you took the top layer off of a via (makes connections between board layers) since it is a multi layer board you may have destroyed the whole board but that is unlikely. If there is still a hole there you can use a 30ga etc wire and feed it though the hole, solder it on the bottom and attach your mod wire to the top.
