I found out that the "dealer" I bought it from on eBay, JB Tools, was not only not authorized, but on the specific list of excluded shops on Pioneer's web site. Wasn't paying attention on the front end, cost me on the back end. I emailed them about this, and they could care less, only saying it was "beyond our return window". Well, I would have been surprised if any seller did it, but if you know that the product you are selling is without the manufacturer's warranty, you could mention that on your site/listing/page.
