  1. Right, good to be prepared. I know I had my chromecast in for over 6 months and never had to reset. When car turns off, its kind of resetting anyway becuase it looses power. The only additional thing you can do is wipe it completely out.
  2. yea you would need a male to female extender. You should be able to find that on amazon, maybe even best buy. Just worried about the length you need. Why does it have to run to the glovebox? I keep mine behind the radio. Once you install and setup, you should never have to remove unless you plan to use it in the house too. It should have came with a real small extender which should be enough to connect it around the head unit.
  3. Because of this thread, I decided to test my chromecast over the weekend and I cant really blame the chromecast. The issue is the internet on my phone that is connecting to hotspot. Since that lags, it causes lag in chromecast obviously. To improve things, i disabled all connections (GPS, bluetooth, etc) and closed all programs except what I use to do miracast or screen share. This made a big improvement. I wont be upgrading my chromecast and I recommend it especially if someone has an iphone in the fam but other then that, I like the fact that the screen beam doesnt need wifi, it just co
  4. I'm not familiar with SunBeam but you may have better success with the newer chromecast ($35), not the Ultra. I researched and it seems to have better bandwidth. I'm going to test it out before I go any other route. Belkin Miracast I thought was ideal but I'm reading differently. I have the first chromecast which was descent at best. I had mine connected to usb for iphone. I dont think it matters which one since its only focus is charging.
  5. Yes a chromecast will do the job but its not the only option and may not be the best. You connect chromecast to hdmi and one of the usb's have to be sacrificed to give chromecast power. You have to install Google Home app on your phone (I only did this with Android). You setup a hotspot in the car with a phone or device and both your chromecast and the device that will do the mirroring have to be on same hotspot network. Look up how to get chromecast to connect to mobile hotspot, its a little more complicated than wifi in the house but same concept. Disadvantages I see so far: 1)
  6. I'm looking for options to play videos or better music options than spotify on the android auto through 4200 NEX. Anyone aware of any options for this?
  7. I installed in 2011 tahoe and concept is very similar. Due to all the wires, its a tight fit. Some people cut plastic off behind back of HU but if you carefully tuck wires in open spots, you can get radio to fit right. I had same issue with reverse. I tried tapping recommended wires that are associated with reverse but ended up having to run a wire from reverse light all the way to radio. They made an upgraded HU that just comes with its own camera possibly because this is a more common issue than we think. I had same issue where reverse finally worked and nothing else worked. I h
  8. If we did anything wrong, couldnt we take unit out, disconnect from power for like 5 min? Everytime mine lost power in process of install, all my settings were erased. Assuming the same would fix this issue?
  9. iheart radio worked to perfection. I got hot 97 now! Any other stations recommended that are popular across the States? Next up is 105.1, need my breakfast club with charlamagne
  10. I love my phone navi, always up to date. Go 4200 nex
  11. Was interested in setting up radio stations under the music icon in android auto. What are my options? So far, only thing I got to work was 'tune in radio' which isnt free. Tried a Hot 97 app but doesnt show up. Suggestions? Not even picky on stations but want more music options besides what is saved on the phone.
  12. I have a phone dedicated to android auto for navi and music connected via hotspot on my main phone and want to use bluetooth from my main phone, not the android auto one. When i delete phone from pioneer, it just reinstalls. Maybe there is an option to delete bluetooth from phone so it never has an opportunity to connect? I tried deleting app that controls bluetooth but system smart enough to connect bluetooth whenever the micro sd connects to phone. I believe I can set pioneer up to focus on another bluetooth but multiple people access car and dont want my girl to have issues, rather
  13. I recently installed the pioneer head unit and it allows me to use MirrorLink with one phone as long as I am using my own forging hotspot for a Chromecast I am able to play Android auto and a separate audio rear. The way how I was able to do it as I purchase and HDMI to RCA cable that connects to the dual-zone setup.
  14. I just received confirmation this is possible with android auto. Guessing it's not possible with miracast
