  1. 1.08 release notes do claim "Stabilizes Apple CarPlay connectivity" so I am hopeful. On my first unit, the update went through the first phase, but after rebooting just hung for a long time before claiming failure. Tried the auto recovery a bunch of times, but no dice. Copied the software to another USB stick, and then it worked. Phew! That was a bit nerve wracking.
  2. Thanks, @bonee. I don't know why I wasn't finding this, but other than feeling a bit foolish, I appreciate the help!
  3. When I go to Pioneer's web site, I can find support info for the 5201 but not the 5200. It does seem that these are different, yes? I would just like to be sure I have the latest, but can't even find that out. I have 2 of these units, and CarPlay has never been super stable. Sometimes replacing the cable helps, sometimes not. Ironically, it feels like it's been *less* stable with my newer phone. Anyone have any pointers?
  4. Thanks, Tekki. Guess I'll have to wait for better support. Apple started with closed ecosystems for iPhone, AppleTV, etc., so hopefully they'll eventually (soon, dammit!) figure out it's in their interest to allow others to play.
  5. Right you are! Good thing I didn't take my dash apart again only to discover that. That would have been even *more* embarrassing!! OK, let me re-phrase -- Is it possible to do Waze on a 5200, and if so are there any useful tutorials out there for it?
  6. The info I've seen online suggests that in order to use Waze with my AVIC 5200-NEX I need to hook up an HDMI cable. Some less in depth research suggests that on other Pioneer lines, HDMI is *not* required. I don't really want to run an HDMI cable, and have no interest in watching video on my screen. Does Waze *really* require the HDMI connection to function on the NEX HU's?? Thanks for any definitive info!!
