  1. Yes, but its on back order. So I might cancel it and still get the "F" it a fix comes soon. My local shop has 8120's in stock by the dozen. I hope to get one installed this week.
  2. Probalby b/c most of us were using a thread "F-90BT or 8120". When it became apparent that the F-series vs 8120 was about as tough as Tyson in his feable comback - I think we sought a better challenger in the Z. Unless someone can make a case for a Z-3 real quick - I think I'll join Mike with an 8120. I do 2nd the motion for a Kenwood dedicated Forum---why not??
  3. Cranbers - I would strongly agree with you if the F-series had been out for 6 months. However, many of the people posting here on the f-units were posting before they rec'd it and are just reporting back their finds to the rest of us. I would hope you're right, but the facts are most of the people here know what they are doing and aren't complaing about hacks, but lack of critical funcationality.
  4. I've also made a total of 5 calls, with the engine on and off. The person on the other end hasn't had issue with the the voice quality.... yet. [edit] What kind of phone?
  5. Use the Avic411 code at all & eds for 18% off til the end of the month.
  6. I am still deabting b/t these 2 and the f-series. I had it narrowed down to the F-90 and the 8120. Then this rash of issues with the f-series and now I am back to considering the Z3 vs the 8120. Logic would say the 8120 - and I am leaning that way strongly. I am still a week or 2 out, so I'll keep reading and learning. Thoughts on Z3: I really like the maps of the Z3 - but it seems to be a bit slower overall than the 8120 and there has been some question if Pioneer's routing accuracy. Thoughts on 8120: Seems pretty solid - not the best user interface - but fast and Garmin is pr
  7. About 1 page back it was noted that the iphone did not have good outgoing BT sound quality on the 8120 (however it worked better for other phones). In fact, he noted that it was better with his Z3. Can anyone else confirm the 8120 BT performance w/an iPhone?
  8. Can you request to have POIs (i.e. restuarants) show up on the map of the F-series so you can just "see" what is around the corner, etc? Does it use the brand trademarks (i.e. the arches for McDonalds)? What about the Z3 or the 8120?? Do they?
  9. Mike - Was the F90 display as poor as it was on your 700?
  10. This info is invaluable. The lack of BT dialling of POI's on the 8120 is a bummer, but like you said if the BT outgoing audio is so bad and the NAV won't shut up - it mine as well not be on the Pioneer. There have been several posts that just showed up overnight Tuesday of new installs and most of them are pretty negative. In fact, the only good news has been the that bypass has been worked out, but otherwise, no on has refuted anything Mike has said, specifically: -ultra slow booting -poor outgoing BT audio -poor touch screen performance (tiny buttons, having to double tap) -Ip
  11. mikeinnj - Thanks for the feedback. I am really on the fence. I don't believe that the 8120 has any of the MSN Direct stuff like showtimes, gas preices, traffic, etc or does it? I also read that the F does not allow you to say "call Jill" like the cheeseball actor did in the pioneer traffic video (at least with an Iphone). Now the screen looks like a washed out has been? If this is confrimed in other installs - there are going to be many unhappy F owners. Is the NAV routing inferior to the 8120. Which unit did I see options to select from: shortest vs. fastest vs most e
  12. This is very disappointing. Is the official resolution on the 8120 as good? Has anyone reported this brightness issue on the F90/F900? How is the outbound BT audio on the Kenwoods?
  13. Speaking of POI's, does the 3-d option feature "signs" on little posts that show the branding (i.e. like the golden arches, etc) like on the Z-series? Also, isn't it possible to drag the map around on the screen on the Z-series so that you can get a quick peak of what nearby restuarants are a street or two over? Can you drag on either 2-d or 3-d of the F-series?
  14. whtcrxghst - thanks for the input. I did not realize the bluetooth was that bad on the Z3. I guess we'll see soon how these "improvements" pan oout on the f-series.
  15. I have been asking myself this same question. In fact, I just joined to jump in this thread. It seems the overwhelming response for the F series has been fantastic, but I don't get it. I must be missing something, but I think the small screen blows big time and the fact that the F series does not feature dual zone is piss poor. Is the Z3 not superior to the F-series in 85% of the features? Can someone list a rundown of pros and cons of the Z3 vs the DVD F-sereis?
