  1. OK, I think I get it. There is a "City Map" view (page 42 of the manual) that will show detailed building outlines and wider steets for some citys and only if you have the scale at 0.05 miles (50 meters) or less. I think this is what youre speaking of. If you dislike it you can turn it off in the settings. Brian-
  2. If you look at the trend of the AVIC-Z1-Z3, they were all the same unit with software updates. Pioneer made the MSN unit for the AVIC-Z110BT a add on, so if the trend follows: Two years from now MSN as we know it will be dead, the Z110 will be out-dated. A new Z (most likely the same hardware with new software) will be out that supports a new add on device with "MSN" like service. Hopefully we can upgrade our Z110 like people did with the older Z series, i.e. Z1 to Z3. Then we could use that add on device...........Maybe. It's wishful thinking but given the history of the Z series it's poss
  3. Your right, I replayed the video and your right. Sorry about that.
  4. Yes you can, if you sync your iphone with the headunit. The new iphone app video shows that all contacts with adresses in them will be imported to the headunit. The contact with a address will have a differnt icon. Brian-
  5. Get the AVIC-Z110 if you can, its just a F90 with a bigger screen (I think). It looks great.

    Alpine AVI-W505

Just wanted to let everyone know I got this unit (IVA-W505 and NVE-P1 nav) and it sux, it takes a few seconds to switche between the nav screen and the radio screen, the nav has no brightness control (radio does thru) and the voice to talk sounds horrible. I plan on returning it to crutchfield and ordering a F90. Thanks

One thing I really like about the F series is it shows the Album art and the song title (I think) in the nav screen. Does the W505 do that? I also don't mind paying more for the total set up as long as I like it. I read that when you use the DVD nav on the Alpine it then lets you control most everything using voice commands, like volume, change track, change source, input destination, etc.

    Alpine AVI-W505

Thanks again. Listening to my ipod will be the main use followed by radio and then Nav. In the photos for the ipod screens they look good I just didn't know how they actually function (good or bad). That only leaves the DVD based Nav. I've read it gets you from point A to point B very accurately but that’s not enough for me. I would like it to look good to like the F series.

    Alpine AVI-W505

Thanks for the info. Can you describe the ipod interface compared to the F series?

    Alpine AVI-W505

Does any one have a experience with this unit? Good, bad, or other wise? I am seriously considering this unit plus its DVD nav add-on in place of a AVIC-F90BT. I know all about the spec's and menus of the Alpine but I haven't seen it is use. Thanks

  12. If the F series is meant to replace the D series are they ever going to replace the Z with a newer unit/interface. I love the AVIC-F90BT, and don’t care about the bugs. I work in Engineering for a electronics Co. And know it takes time etc. NOT THAT’S ITS RIGHT FOR NEW ADOPTERS TO HAVE TO SUFFER. I don’t like the load slot, small screen compared to the Z and the lack of search by numbers in the nav. I know the F series is meant to be cheaper than the Z and that’s why it doesn’t have some features but I’m willing to pay 2K if they give me a Z series with the features of the F series
  13. I to have a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS with the Rockford Fosgate system and subwoofer. Great choice! The factory amp to the Fosgate system sits under the drivers seat and only turns on from the CAN-BUS connection from the head unit. Most people on EvolutionM forum are using after market amps because they cant make it work yet. You have two options at this point if you want to use the factory amp, sub, etc. 1) use this Rockford Amp Turn on Interface found by "thuan†on evolutionM.net site. I don't think its out yet and costs $150. Here's his link: http://www.autotoys.com/x/product
