I figured it out!! when i was playing with the settings I hit the background button. this puts the background over the video image. I was looking at it like a wire or internal problem. it was just a setting.

I was able to bypass my unit for a few hours then the video just went out. I'm using an on off rocker switch and like i said it was working for a little while. now i dont even get the warning screen it just get sound and nothing else. I checked all my connections and everything seems right. anyone have any ideas? thanks for you help. it just seems odd to me that I dont even get the warning screen.

also could someone explain the bypass a little more. I'm really good with electronics and computers I just don't completely understand the car audio lingo. I want to know if there is a permanent bypass so I dont have to push a button everytime. thanks again.

does anyone know if the harness is the same for the Avic-D3 as the AVH-P4000DVD? Thanks
