  1. The 9-3 and 9-5 are built in Sweden and the 9-3 convertible in Austria.
  2. Absolutely. This is a my first nav unit and I would buy this F700BT again. After the firmware update, everything is perfect, except for the screen still too bright in night mode. All the features still amaze me for such a nice-priced unit ($600-700). It's not 100% perfect or has all the features of $1000-$1500 units but it is a lot of value for the money. I had to get used to the navigation unit (also have a TomTom 910) but now I like it much better than the TT. iPod controls are great and sound quality is awesome. Boot up time is pretty quick after the update, usually only about
  3. I couldn't get it to work in my Saab 9-5 either. I emailed their tech support and they suggested a fix. It's working fine now. I am not saying this will work for any car but definitely contact them. http://wulfers.net/auto/mods95/avic-f70 ... index.html
  4. I'll post these from blindmind for others to see. Saab has the coolest logo (I am biased..) and these will look great on the F-series. Thanks!
  5. I have this one but the brushed metal background would be very nice.
  6. Thanks for the feedback on the write-up. I was wondering why PAC didn't include the resistor instructions with their product so it looks like something changed for the later model 9-5s.
  7. The main reason is safety-related. If you get into a head-on collision, your knee won't bash into the keys. Other explanations are ergonomics. The idea is you put your seatbelt on with your right hand, start the car, release handbrake (if needed) and engage gear all in the same spot. You get used to it quickly and it really feels odd when you have to drive a car with keys and fob dangling from the steering column. It's not odd, just different and better.
  8. I made some pictures and guide for the complete installation process. Find it here: http://wulfers.net/auto/mods95/avic-f700bt/index.html
  9. Yeah, it is not an expensive camera. The long shutter speed and my Xenons must have messed up the colors.
  10. You got it. Does anyone else think it is too bright when it's dark out?
  11. I already have my albums in separate playlists so it wasn't an issue for me. I think you can just create a single playlist with all your albums and update them all in one single pass. If there is a tracknumber missing in one of the songs, the script will error out.
  12. I have the illumination wire hooked up and the display switches from daytime brightness to nighttime when I turn my headlights on so that's not the issue. Both settings have the same brightness adjustment range so they should turn the night setting way down.
  13. The screen is way too bright for me at night. I have the brightness turned all the way down and it still is almost blinding at night. It feels like I need another 10 steps down from the lowest setting. Does anyone know of any tinted LCD screen protectors? I know that will also affect my daytime brightness but I can live with that. Not with the current brightness at night.
  14. Another vote for the damp microfiber cloth. I actually clean my entire dash with that and never use any cleaner.
