  1. I agree that a FORUM and a WIKI are similar. But they do differ quite a bit at the same time. The purpose of getting a question answered works VERY well in a forum. Not so much in a WIKI (unless the question has been asked before). Anyway, here we go: AVIC-F series WIKI: http://avic-f.wikidot.com/ (We need to populate it obviously)[/b]
  2. Forums are great. But a lot of people don't utilize search or find what might be in the site. When I needed to rewire the wiring harness on my F-series unit, I had to read each and every post in the thread just to make sure there wasn't something I missed. A really easy and simple thing would have been somebody created a Wiki article and others could have added to it with pictures, etc. and organized it so somebody who had an F-series could find it easily. Now, that example was not the best since it's easy to find in the forums. But I think you guys can tell the difference and nece
  3. Latest firmware DOES NOT solve this issue. I have lost all faith in Pioneer as a company. I think I'm going to move forward with my lawsuit over false advertisement. Anybody remember the Palm Treo incidents...?
  4. Wow, everybody seems to be losing their cool on this thread. C'mon, chill out. I will say this though... You don't have to write something from the SD card/USB drive to the CE desktop in order to execute an application. So in theory, you could put whatever CE program you wanted onto the SD card and run it with read/write access. As long as you have access to a GUI (Windows CE) in this case, things should work. What is stunning is the AVIC-F application obviously runs on top of Windows CE. And Windows CE isn't that slow at booting up, its everything else (including the AVIC-F applicatio
  5. Aight, took the CD card out. Rebooted. Here are some problems that STILL exist on mine, even after checking that I'm running the newest hardware: * Boot-up time is slow: I will say, this will NEVER go away because it is running Windows CE and boots up just like a PC. Just like your cell phone, it needs a little time to get up and going. Damn! * 2D navigation: Still DOES NOT allow you to click the compass and always point in the direction your going instead of the north direction. My AVIC-N2 did this flawlessly. * Response time: Still does not respond fast to commands. * NEW BUG: Even wh
  6. Just installed the first part of the firmware update. Between step 9 and 10, the system actually exposes Windows CE 5.0! And the craziest part is, you can do ANYTHING you want with it in this state! I can actually open the GPS application in the Windows folder and track satellites, I can copy over IE for Windows CE and run it over Bluetooth Dialup Networking (DUN) with my Windows Mobile 6 phone! I can put any touchscreen Windows CE program I want on this puppy! It has about 1.8GB of free space. Problem is... I DON'T WANT THAT! I just want a working AVIC-F series like I paid for!!!! I am go
  7. Can you copy the data from the SD card to your computer and ZIP it up? I'd love to see some files on that card.

  9. I'm sure this is just ANOTHER bug with the system, but I'm having problems with the music playback. I have a 4GB microSD in a SD adapter. It will playback music or video but for some reason, it won't play an entire song before skipping to the next track. It doesn't always happen, but it happens enough to make it annoying. I was thinking perhaps it was the microSD to SD adapter, but it works fine with other components (Wii, PC, etc). What gives?
  10. Just adding another YES that this does work. I had to take apart the dash twice because I didn't get the wire down far enough in the harness, but once it was done it worked flawless. Geez... I don't know how you could operate the deck without the hack! Sooo limiting! I'm still praying for a firmware to fix some common problems like SLOW startup times, 2D navigation without the compass control like my old AVIC-N2, and memorization of zoom level on 2D after key off. Other than that, still a pretty cool deck. But Windows? Seriously Pioneer? Microsoft Windows? Boo.
  11. I have the Motorola Q9H running Windows Mobile 6, and it took a few times, including Windows crashing on the unit, but eventually it did transfer my phone book without any special software.
