  1. Mixed results. My first Samsung u700 (Gleam) would reboot every few minutes. My wife also has a u700 and the same issue. I took my u700 back and got another u700 under warranty. The new one works without a hitch, including phonebook transfer. I had to pair the new one from the unit using the a540 option. It found my phone and then I was able to push the phonebook. No issues since then.
  2. Fixed. I got the software bypass to work by using WinRAR to edit the DATA.zip in place as opposed to Winzip.
  3. yep - sure did. The diagram was pretty clear. I moved it from the 1st row, 1st pin to the 2nd row 4th pin. I'll try going back to my original DATA.zip and see if it makes a difference.
  4. Thanks - I had already decided to try that and just did so. Still seeing the same behavior. I'm not sure why this is so difficult - I'm grounding the wires in the same way. I see it work until I'm moving over 10 mph or so and then the warning message, etc. In my older Pioneer unit I just ground the parking brake wire to something metal and voila. Oh well, guess it's not really the end of the world...
  5. Maybe someone has an idea... So, I ground the parking brake wire this morning. After doing so, I confirmed that I could operate the navigation settings and functions, set a destination, etc WITHOUT engaging the parking brake. Next, I updated my DATA.zip (I already have a backup on my computer) so that the parking brake speed is set to 128.0, booted in test mode, and replaced the DATA.zip with my now updated copy. I have no other modifications to the software. From my testing, it seems that once I cross 10 miles per hour or so the unit notifies me that the parking brake wire is not
  6. I have an F90BT and I also noticed a difference after startup...
  7. You shouldn't need one. XM is already allowing you to add the "Best of Sirius" to your XM account. Basically, it's all of the existing XM channels + Howard Stern, Playboy, NFL, Martha, and maybe something else. The total is $16.99 a month. The info is up on the xmradio.com site.
  8. In case anyone else runs in to this - I called up XM again and found out that when I "swapped" my old XM unit for the new one, the customer service rep never actually finished "submitting" the request. The CSR I talked to today submitted it and I was able to activate the radio.
  9. Except unless I'm mistaken, the "software" hack still requires you to ground the parking brake wire. I applied Boris's latest Data.zip and the software hack alone has not removed the GPS/Video restrictions. Boris or anyone - did you still have to ground the parking brake wire in addition to the software hack?
  10. antenna is outside the car. I previously had an older XM unit and Pioneer head unit and so the new antenna/xm unit are mounted in the same places where I had the old one professionally installed. I left the unit on for almost 45 minutes yesterday. I'm going to try calling XM to have them send the activation again rather than relying on sending a refresh myself. Other than that, I'm not sure how to troubleshoot the issue short of buying a new unit and seeing if that resolves it...
  11. Posted this in the XM forum but figured I'd post here too since this one seems to be more active. Just installed the XM module for the F90BT. I can get the radio id and the preview channels, and I called them to active it. Problem is, it won't activate. I'm going to try again tomorrow or Friday but wanted to see if anyone had a similar issue and if so what the cause might have been. I'm trying to avoid having to send the XM (GEXP920) unit back since it'll be a PITA. Can the antenna be "bad" and still receive the basic preview channels? Could the unit function but not activate?
  12. I'm wondering if anyone on here has had a similar issue. I have recently installed a new GEXP920XM unit in to my car and connected it to the F90BT unit in my car. I can get a signal and get the preview channels. I called up XM and activated the radio and drove around for an hour and nothing. I realized that I forgot to reset the unit first so I did that and have tried "refreshing" the radio signal from XM numerous times but the unit still has not activated. Anyone else seen this? Should I call XM and simply have them send an activation again? Or could the unit somehow get a signal bu
  13. Thanks for the replies. I actually meant to post this in the troubleshooting forum but had a brain fart. In any case, I got the bluetooth issue solved by getting a new phone - same model, just a replacement. I then paired it using one of the existing Samsung phone options and it seems to work just fine now. Even transferred the phonebook over. Been writing software for over 10 years now and it never ceases to amaze me as to the flakiness you can see... civicdrvr - thanks for the link. I'll check them out and see if they can help. superject - The Metra kit won't work for the 20
  14. So I finally got the F90-BT installed in my 2003 Pathfinder LE. I had to order the original OEM stereo brackets to get it installed. I still have a couple of remaining issues that I'm hoping someone on here may have experience with or thoughts on how to address them. 1) I have a Samsung Gleam from Verizon (SCH-u700) that has worked in the past with my brother's Infiniti and my own bluetooth headset. However, when I pair it with the F90 the phone will connect but then all operations on the phone are horrendously slow. After a few minutes, the phone just completely "reboots" itself and
  15. Just in case anyone else stumbles across this site with the same issue... Every shop I talked to said I would need the original OEM stereo brackets. I went to the Nissan dealer and had to special order parts 28038-4W310 and 28039-4W310 for the brackets, as well as 08510-51612 which are the screws. I'm getting my F90BT installed in the next week or two after I get the parts. Thanks to all for the replies. My next issue after that will be the dash opening but I'll cross that bridge when I get there...
