  1. If you only update the Ldata and Sdata files will it still be updating the system and then reboot? -Mine didn't. Where would I go to get new version and new map confirmation?
  2. A switch to NAVTEQ would be the only way to get better maps and routing. This would no longer make a Z4 backward compatible but would finally make it a NEW model and not just updated maps.
  3. It sure would be nice!! But it's good to know that there is a Garmin in-dash available and Kenwood is an awsome brand for the audio video section. Thanks for the info!!

    2008 Maps

I thought buying the map update only replaces the mapping on a Z1/Z2. The music partition should remain untouched. No?
  5. No, it's Tele Atlas. I just had the latest TOM TOM (Tele Atlas) for a test run and it had the same errors and omissions that I find in the Z3 software. Also the same poor routing. Google maps (Navteq) is the bench mark when it comes to evaluating GPS mapping and routing. What happened to my Tom Tom? It went back and was replaced with a Garmin 770 which hopefully will do a good job in the rental car in Europe. I've read however that Tele Atlas is better in Europe than it is in North America. Google Maps is excellent for Europe too so hopefully the Garmin will be as well. We'll see. That GP
  6. Dude, you sure have a need to have the last word and to correct others even when they're right. Pioneer screen images have allways been 500x240. Besides 500x240 and 480x234 are identical ratios of 2.1 unless you want to split some more hair and go to 2.051 vs 2.083. No visible oval either way. Give it up already, you're not contributing anything here. Passat, thanks for that overlay tip
  7. I don't lie you little idiot, show me one area that is improved. Now this is hilarious, the guy calls someone a liar and then complains that he calls him an idiot, while still not showing a screen shot of the area where things may have improved. I'm near the GTA and can confirm that all the problems that were there in previous versions .... are still there. Routing stinks and detail is missing in many areas. Going just outside the greater Toronto area one finds himself in areas that have no lakes or rivers showing and a POI that at best lists 20% of what Garmin lists. People from the Sta
  8. Any advise for those of us that wound up with the corrupt image on our HDD? I suppose following your excellent instructions in this thread a second time will take care of it?
  9. I disagree!! Most of it is excellent and this one is probably one of the good ones judging by the repeat business.

  11. Looks great to me. Any chance that you're going to be the hero that shares?
  12. As I remember, Rebel offered to clone drives because he was not set up to extract the image and wanted to contribute by providing a drive to someone who can do that. Surely those that got the clone are willing to do their part??? And if not then I would hope that the Rebel will let us know who they are.
  13. why not share it on bitorrent? i am sure everyone will jump in. Because the Rebel is set up for drive cloning and not for extracting an image. I'm surprised that no one has taken him up on his kind offer yet. If I was in the US I'd have sent a drive to him when he first offered. (Turn around from Canada has been between 2 and 5 weeks with brokerage fees both ways).
  14. Wrong!! Even one day is plenty to get others the full file as long as he has a high speed connection (And he wouldn't offer if he didn't). A week is very generous when it comes to seeding torrents. Do you need more information on how torrents work -Or are you just some 18 year old know-it-all-smart-ass who can't help but critique others on their posts CaptainInsaneO like Passat said, you're offer to help is appreciated
  15. A whole week, huh... unless your upstream is around 1MB/s, that's not gonna cut it We've already got a distribution method, we're all just waiting on an image. Hyperite, here is how torrents work: Basically, a torrent is a way to distribute large files (like high-quality concert recordings, video and image files) in a shared manner. The person offering up the torrent, we'll use CaptainInsaneO in this example because he just offered, creates a torrent file and posts the link to it on a public tracker site. Other people who are interested in it download the torrent file and open it with
