  1. They basically broke SD playback with 3.0. I just ended up getting an Ipod, which loads really fast and sounds much better.
  2. I had a 4gb card that was completely full. I was not going to sift through the whole list to figure out ones were incompatible. Additionally, the load times on the iPod and the full integration (and compatibility in 3.0) are well worth the money. Why didn't I do this sooner!??!
  3. Broke down and bought an iPod. So much better than using an SD card!
  4. The hard buttons should still work. At least they still work for me.
  5. I don't think you need to reset it. You just have to wait it out. Takes about 5 min for the system to flush the "bad" song out of the system. I'll often switch out of SD mode into radio until I feel the issue has resolved itself. The problem is definitely something to do with reading certain songs on the SD card. Hopefully, Pioneer will figure out what they broke.
  6. I did and it worked flawlessly. I just wish he were still around and contributing. /salute
  7. Before, it would take a long time to load everything before playing a single song. Now it only loads the first song fast, then loads everything else afterwards. Maybe the net time difference is the same, but it sure feels much much slower. Mainly because all the screens show, but it's frozen and you can't do anything but stare at the screen. I might pop by Fry's today and grab a class 6 SD card to see if it improves performance.
  8. I lost all my favorite POI's in the update. And the HD radio presets are still blank. But overall, I'm very pleased with this update.
  9. Things I noticed. 1 - Overall the unit is faster. Buttons response, load time, phone connection, all improved. 2 - Illumination changes colors like a kaleidoscope. (I like it, but you can set it to one color.) 3 - SD performance has gone down. It loads the initial song fast, but takes ages for the rest of the card to load. Maybe I just need a faster SD card. /shrug 4 - Can't comment on iPod connectivity.
  10. It's not a simple firmware update. If it were, then it would be free. They are actually updating the navigation software (not just the maps) to improve performance. The software update costs them money, which they charge to us. updating it to the way I hoped it was suppose to be from the start. fixt.

  12. UPDATE IN HAND!!! (but no car today /cry) EDIT : The shipping box is HUGE! The actual update comes in a CD case. EDIT2 : Looks like you need to get the media key from the SD card and a device number from your unit and input it into the pioneer site. Then they will give you the passcode for the install. EDIT3 : Looks like the passcode is only used for installing the maps (SD card #2), and not the firmware update.
