1. OK... This should be an easy fix once you have the correct passcode. There is a 4-digit bluetooth passcode that is set in the Avic Z1. I am pretty sure that it forced me to set one when I configured the BT unit. If you don't remember doing this, it may be set to 0000 (zeros). Once you enter the correct passcode, it will sync right up and work. If you need help finding the passcode setting on the Z1, let me know; I'll have to go down to the garage to walk through the setup menus... also, it may be in the manual that came with the BT unit. Good Luck!
2. Not sure what trouble you are having, specifically, but my pairing of the Blackjack was very textbook. I initiated the pairing from the mobile device (not the Z1), and I made sure that bluetooth was ON, and Discoverable before I started the pairing process. I also made sure to turn the VOLUME DOWN all the way before I paired the unit. This seems to help the echo problem for some people... just remember to turn it back up when you use the phone or it will be very hard to hear the other person talk. If you have specific trouble you can tell me about, I may be able to help more...
3. I just *knew* it was there somewhere! Thanks so much for the link, and the warning information, as well as the search tips for the forum!!
4. OK. I've been searching for the bluetooth echo fix for a while... can't seem to find the post. (Yes, I searched for "echo bluetooth" and didn't find it in the HUNDREDS of threads that get returned!!) Maybe I'm looking right past it, but can somebody please tell me the url to the post of the thread with the actual file to make my CD? Thanks!!
5. I have a Z1, and used the Audiovox SMT5600 smartphone first. Worked well, but didn't get caller ID on the screen. ? Then I had a Cingular 8525 (what a piece of sH*$) and it dropped the bluetooth signal almost every call, about 2-4 mins into the conversation. I returned the phone. I am now using a BlackJack and it seems to work very well. I had no problem pairing the unit at all... not sure what your error messages are, but mine was straight-forward and works great. Good luck!
6. I had the Z-1 installed in my 2006 Acura RSX Type-S about 6 months ago. It was a professional install at a local Car Toys, but the technician found that when he connected the speed pulse wire to the VSSOUT on my ECM that my speedo stopped working! I did some testing over the weekend (after taking it back 3 times with no progress!), and found that the Z-1 was not even getting a pulse when the speedo was knocked out. I've contacted others who have installed a Z-1 in the exact make/model/year vehicle and didn't have this trouble... makes me wonder if my Z-1 is defective? (I HOPE NOT! I don

Speed Pulse = 0 ??

OK. When I tap pin #26 in the ECM/PCM under the glovebox, I get a speed pulse fine on the Z1 - but my speedo stops working!!! Pioneer tech support thought that a diode in line might help (prevent feedback?), but they weren't for sure. Acura indicated that my 2006 RSX was manufactured in Aug of 2006, making it a 2007 model spec... just one problem though - there are NO 2007 RSXs, as they have dropped the model from the lineup. Any other ideas?

Speed Pulse = 0 ??

When I check my Z1 Settings, Hardware, Connections... the speed pulse always reads zero (0). I would guess that this pulse should rise when the car is in motion... should I have the installer look into this?
9. I think moving the Mic to the dash location is a great idea! Seems the speakers that transmit the caller's voice would be sheilded if you selected the right location - plus, the quality of your voice would be better as well. :D
10. I have tried EVERYTHING discussed on this forum, plus some other things - like changing the phone audio to come only through one speaker and positioning the microphone in the other direction. What I think I have discovered is this: The echo is actually the person's voice coming from the car's speaker and being transmitted back through the Z1's voice mic. I'm not sure how you could fix this (other than lowering the caller's voice volume, so it is not picked up as well by the mic!). I was able to make to reduce the echo under the following conditions: 1) Using my hand to "
11. I also have an Acura RSX Type-S, and the installer didn't even have to use a converter. He wired to the harness in some clever fashion, and the system sounds better than it did with the stock head unit!! I'll try to find out exactly what he did so I can share it here as well.
12. AUDIOVOX SMT 5600: This phone is about 2 years old now, but it was one of the first small phones to have Windows Mobile as the OS. It works well with the Z1. Connected every time with no problem, doesn't drop like my girlfriend's Treo 650 either. Phone book transfer is 1 contact at a time. :-\
13. Thanks for the appreciation of my post... I believe that a lot of scams are allowed to continue because those who are taken advantage of are too embarrassed to admit it. (They are usually the same people who bash those who are man enough). I do order thousands of dollars worth of products over the 'net every year, and this is the first time I've been scammed like this. On the day I ordered from Electronic Treasures I was in a huge hurry to fly out of town... lesson learned!! I will post here when I have my charge reversed (or when the saga continues) for those who
14. This vendor sells through Google Check-out, and has a cheesy web site at www.electronictreasures.com. I ordered an AVIC Z-1 for $1214.00. After THREE WEEKS they delivered a box full of rattling electronic JUNK... An old car speaker and some packs of speaker wire - not even any packing foam!! They did this only in an attempt to "prove" to others online that they really did ship the product. (I exposed them on vendor feedback at Google). My credit card co. says I'll get my $ back (thank you VISA!), but this has been an absolu

Z1 - $1,114.00 New

I ordered one, and waited. And waited. In short, "Will Lewis" is a fake name. His company does not exist. The address does not exist. He tried to keep me "talking" about UPS shipping problems, blah, blah... long enough to clear the $ from my VISA out of his account. I was lucky and got my card company to commit to a refund. And, when I called him on his scam via eMail he just quit writing to me... :-( STAY AWAY FROM DEALS THAT ARE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. BECAUSE THEY ARE!!! (I did find the unit for $1,449 at www.mytaxfree.c
