  1. That SCREAMS "you didn't do the bypass right" it's the yellow wire causing it and it's most likely in the wrong location. That answers you too coachzenn
  2. 3+ years on this forum and no one has EVER had a unit come back that was unable to be bypassed by the normal means, quadruple check your wiring, something got jostled, best bet? the relocated mute wire.
  3. Even if you resolve the power issue in other ways the USB GUI for the AVIC stinks compared to the ipod interface, it's just not worth it IMNSHO
  4. Chapter 31, Page 170 of the manual, Switching the muting/attenuation level. I know it's dry, but it's worth reading the manual to get a handle on all the features.
  5. 2 year old 160GB classic here, works like a champ with my F700BT every day
  6. You're also looking for the magic word "bypass", work with that and a wealth of information will come your way.
  7. Any ideas? Yes, you didn't do the bypass properly, go back, reread the threads, and do it again.
  8. There's nothing for Pioneer to "start paying attention to" CD's are a dying media, and they do NOT contain the data you think they do, if your OEM unit was ID'ing CD's it had a copy of the CDDB databes as part of it's OS, many higher end factory systems do this now, i.e. Ford Sync
  9. Make sure you have enough power, if you can do a dual input cable that sucks the voltage from a 2nd USB connector (they're out there) that will help resolve the potential power issues. Even though it "appears to power up fine" you may not have enough juice to keep it spinning and the interface up. The other gotcha is that the non-ipod folder management just plain stinks IMNSHO, it's not worth my aggravation compared to how nice the ipod integration is.
  10. In the past we've found it happens a lot when you don't use itunes to manage your library, if I remember correctly Media Monkey cause this for a while.
  11. Vblue sent you down the right path, yes, there are things you can learn here that are not in the manual, however they all assume that you have read the manual FIRST and that you understand the concepts that are past the stock manual functions. Before you can run you have to learn to walk, it's an important step a lot of folks leave out. Download and read the PDF manual from Pioneer first, then come back and add to that knowledge
  12. Make sure your music is MP3 not AAC format, and don't just dump everything in the root, put it in a folder named music. Those are the most common issues.
  13. You can use a PC or other power supply, just connect GND and +12v and test to your hearts content
