  1. This is my main complaint about the unit as well. POIs are what make the unit usefull. Someone calls me says I'll meet you at this restaurant.. I can't find it or any other business like say walmart costco or anything. I had an f series and had to get waranty at future shop. They replaced it with this piece of crap. I am vary upset with it. I want my F710 back! Why couldn't they have put similar firmware to the x series. Addresses are even incorrect on this thing.. my f series was much more acurate. Why? don't they use the same map provider?
  2. Actually, I have the oposite problem.. always starts on the same song and songs are listed alphabetically and I set it for random and going to the next song is not random. I want random playing... what is the diference in our units?
  3. I have not done this, but if you are serious about tracking... Buy the smallest cell phone you possibly can, open the gps case, glue it in complete with a charging cable, tie the charging cable into the gps power in so you would not see any wires on the outside. Do not enable any blue tooth as it would tip them off to see your phone answer, allso turn the ring and other sounds right down before putting it in. Cell phones can be tracked, even some service providers offer a tracking service. If the unit is stolen, you would have a couple days battery power on the phone and when it gets i
  4. I want to put a 64 gig flash drive on mine.... have they solved the flash drive issues? If not, I will not spend money on this upgrade.
  5. I got the update from the pioneer webite...seems that there is a free version for canadians only... no idea what could be different from the us ver. Update was simple from the web directions. However the version number does not seem to be updated I notice the same improvements as others mentoned The bluetooth works though when I pressed hangup on the screen It appeared to work, but the phone didn't actually hang up will have to keep an eye on this as it could be costly. Slow load time on sd card and problems with flash drive have not been fixed. It does not appear that any new
  6. Mine is an f700 so no vss wire. The part that threw me was that there was no warning when I had the grounds wired separately... one to the harness and one to the chassis. I even took it for a drive like that because the the double din kit didn't fit properly and I went back to the shop to get parts. When I came back and soldered them both to the harness, then I got the error. The VSS is supposed to only be used when there is no gps signal.
  7. Nope not at 10 mph. Not when I start my vehicle either, Before I leave my driveway. Last time I saw It, I had plotted a route and just put it in drive. My vehicle had only moved a few inches.
  8. Thanx... will have a look at it again.. possibly redo my ground. Other than the error which is annoying, everything works fine.
  9. The only change in my wiring was the grounding. If there is no method for detection... there would be no need for an error screen at all. All my connections are clean, well connected, soldered and shrink tubed. I used the harness ground. Used a factory harness connector and all wiring is done according to wiring diagrams with color coding and labeling provided. Did you design this unit or something? If so, I have a couple issues with it.
  10. This is what I thought too and why I connected mine together even after I read about the problem. If it is the case, why the error on the unit about grounding?
  11. Wire it however you want... I wired mine separately when testing and had no errors, but for final install, I wired them together because it was neater for final install, then I got the faulty wiring error. I then talked to an electronics technologist and asked him. He said that it would be very easy to have a device detect if they were wired together. I have not yet gone back and redone the wiring. Will let you know if the warning goes away. I may be wrong, but others have mentioned the same experience and how much work is it really to wire them separately? Up to you.
  12. It looks to me like it might be possible to crate my own menu. For now just for convenience sake.. I have used Maverics Data.zip and want to build on it. I have put 2 mods in already. 1) the software bypass 2) removal of european maps references also called the speedup mod. While I like the shortcuts in the mods, I would prefer some of them and more in a single button quick access menu. I would like all the buttons on the right except the clock in it. I hope I can do this Also, while looking through Maverics data.zip i noticed what appear to be references to files that
  13. ground the wires separately especially the pb wire, attach it to the frame or something. It detects if you have them wired togeather. I have to do mine as well.
  14. I did it and I'm not sure how well it worked. The thing is, I can't really tell all that much difference between 2.0 and 1.017. The obvious stuff went back like the boxes on the screen in map mode, however the boot seemed more like a 2.0 boot from what i can remember. It made no difference when it came to my SD card the scroll bar didn't work when I'm sure it did before. I replaced all the files including all windows CE, only ones I couldn't do were the ones I couldn't copy during the backup. The ones that give you the error... cannot copy files in rom. After copying them all ba
  15. I have been using a 2gb patriot micro sd card with an adapter to boot to windows ce and transfer files. I have never had a problem. It works great. Not sure why yours doesn't work Mine worked fine for backing up, installing update, and doing fixes. I have not used it for music, but think that should work as well. The card was in my camera before I started using it for this.
