Does anyone know if there is a way to set the city the search function defaults to? I noticed since upgrading to v.3 that my default city is always Toronto. I liked the way it was before, that the system would default to the city your GPS located you in at the time. If anyone has solved this problem any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Thanks Boris! Glad to see you are still around The fix for my problem was to add in Sys.txt [smartzoom] maxzoom=140 It is now zoomed in close enough that the 2-3 street names ahead of me display as I travel. Much better than before, when almost no street names showed.

Has anyone else had problems with the POI's? I only replaced the Canadian one but nothing comes up now. It still shows all my categories, but that's it. Nevermind. I renamed the files to match the old ones and lo and behold it worked

Okay. I've wasted too much time digging through this forum and I still can not find my answer. I am looking for a way to change how far out my map displays. I want it to be zoomed in a little bit closer than it is by default. Any help is appreciated. I am tired of running back and forth to the car, changing my SYS.TXT, and getting nowhere. Cheers!

I am using a 16 GB Kingston SD card. I am wondering if anybody else out there has tried any Kingston products before. I find it freezes up on me when trying to transfer large files, whether it be on the head unit to the SD card (ie backing up my flash disk) or transferring form my computer to the SD card (ie IDT's mod). I'm just wondering if I made a mistake buying Kingston or if I should just take it back to get a replacement.

I installed the latest SamTTS and there are a few bugs. Street names that begin with St for Saint are saying Street. I find the way distances are pronounced pretty unnatural also. I like that the highways are pronounced "four-ten" but when she tells me to "turn left in four-fifty meters" it is just not at all natural. I only took her 20 kilometers from the house to try her out. I will work more with her and pass on any problems I find.

Thanks IDT. I wish I could be of a greater help, but I really have no idea how the information is called from the map. I'm sure if the system recognizes which map it is calling info from there must be a way to stop the conversion.

yes, canadian maps are screwed up, in my area it's very seldom that the speed limit sign appears and when it appears it s always wrong, for example trans canda highway 1 always show a speed limit of 97 and 117 Sorry, but I'm way behind on this stuff. I've only had my unit for 2 months now and the amount of info on this forum is staggering. I believe the map data is accurate. The problem seems to be that the AVIC recognizes it as MPH on the Canada maps then does a conversion to KM/H. 1 miles = 1.609344 kilometers. On a highway with a posted limit of 100 KM/H the AVIC displays it as 16

under settings -> navi settings -> regional settings

My regional settings are set to Kilometers/Meters. It appears to me that what ever the AVIC uses to apply the conversions isn't being applied to the speedlimit warning

I am running the AVIC in Canada. I have my preferences set to Kilometers/Meters. When I drive on roads that the AVIC has speed limit information, it seems to be reading it as Miles per Hour, but then converting it over to Kilometers per Hour. For Example, if I am on a Highway with a posted speed limit of 100 KM/H the unit shows me the posted speed limit as 160 KM/H. I am running cmh928's Mod. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to where I should start looking at the software it would be greatly appreciated. I believe the base map is simply a template that iGo uses to fit the other maps together.

Okay, so if I reduce the number in [map] 3d_max_tiltlevel=10000 will that make the maps tilt more or less. I would prefer to have an image that has less horizon. I appreciate the help. Everyone here has been so helpful. Thank you, thank you Thank you!

With the Mod I am using I find the tilt angle too drastic. If anyone can post the original settings it would appreciated. I've been searching the forums but haven't had any luck locating original settings. I'm hoping if I have the original settings I will be able to find a happy medium. Thanks!

Thank God or in this case GTIMatt's and cmh928, who are my AVIC gods at this present time! Can't wait to get my hands on this bad boy. Now I hope you don't think I'm too greedy here, but it would be fantastic to be able to set default tilt/rotation in the 3D map settings. Thanks cmh928 for all the great work. It's a wonderful mod you have here. Can't wait to see what you have in store for the community next.
