  1. I think I may have discovered a way to play liveTV on the iphone w/o jailbreaking the phone. I have the F500BT. I am a Mac user so I also have EyeTV. EyeTV can stream live TV through Safari on the iphone. I bookmarked the EyeTV3 to the home screen. Set the application to be able to find my home media server. I connected the ipod using the pioneer cable then set the AVIC to AV. Launched the app and was streaming live TV. Sometimes the video gets choppy but it does work. I also find that sometimes I get the unsupported accessory error and then it doesn't work. I do prefer sling player but won'
  2. compress as .7z and then rename the file with .res extension.
  3. You should use 7-zip. I believe its shareware and is what the unit uses.
  4. I can get You Tube and other video's but with Slingplayer I get audio only.
  5. I have an F500BT and I tried both the iPhone and iTouch with Slingplayer but was unable to get it to work. I thought since the XM app works that somehow the Slingplayer would but no. I have not given up though.
  6. No because the DC supply changes the voltage from 12V (car battery) to 5V for the device. What you need to do which is what I did was to add a circuit to your fuse box and add a power socket and then hide the connection behind your dash.
  7. I was going to ask the question about GPS acquisition time. On average its takes 7 to 8 minutes to get the signal. When I get a signal (I have the external antenna) the map will not update to my present location unless I choose the menu button or go to the ipod and then back to the map.
  8. The monsoon system is GM's high end (or at least they think so) option for their cars. They system includes an AMP and sub so it would not have been possible to tie the AVIC amp to the monsoon amp or at least w/o cutting into wires. The AVIC amp is not required but does provide 50 watts to a the HU if you don't already have an amp.
  9. I have the F500BT hard wired and I still have the noise but mostly at start up before the ipod music begins to play. I am using the AUX on my factory head unit. I have the upgraded Monsoon system so could not use the amp. I have a ground loop isolation between the AVIC cable and the AUX in an it does eliminate the hiss. I purchased a headphone amp and have tried it to increase the volume but it distorts the sound so much that it provides no improvement. I have adjusted the bass, mid & treble up all the way on the HU and that has been the best solution. I would be interested if anyone comes
  10. This is a great mod. I am still learning what everything does but so far I love it. Some beer money on its way!
  11. Make sure that you don't unzip the data file to make the mod to the configuration file. You want to make the mod on the ziped file using 7-Zip
  12. Try this I have confirmed that changing the parking_break_speed value in the DATA.zip file (/project_config/pioneer.ini) does in fact bypass the video/gps restriction without changing any wiring. I set the value to 128.0 (thought it odd that they picked 16, so I assumed they were using the standard 1,2,4,8,16 binary notation so I chose a number that would fit in that series, hence 128). I know this works because I just installed this unit 2 days ago and did NOT use any bypass. With the change made to the ini file, I can now enjoy video while traveling up to 128 MPH
  13. That is the wrong version for your new firmware. Do a search on testmode 2.3 you will find it.
