  1. I understand it's kind of scary, but make a copy of your original .bin and .cks files and you should be ok. You can even write those originals to your unit just to see how it goes and put your mind at ease that you'll be able to do that again if the modified version doesn't work right. As long as you don't choose the format option when you update your unit, you'll still be able to flash it back to your originals. The files show up in the wince directory I believe. It's been a LONG time. I'm glad I wrote the wiki and the program because I wouldn't remember how to do it at this point wit
  2. Here it is. I didn't get many people using it so I never finished all the polishing and "feature additions". I attached it directly as a zip. Let me know if you have any questions. avic-modder_beta.zip
  3. You're right, must be a timeout on mediafire for the free hosting. I'll go and try to find it and post it again.
  4. Looks like 18,733,836 bytes Here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ynzzaol4lfj/Originals.zip
  5. Hey, for some reason my update emails stopped coming to me so I didn't realize people were responding on here. I'm glad you've had success updating the images to add Korean fonts! I will try to maintain this tool and provide support for it as much as possible. I think, though, that there should be a new thread or another separate effort targeting the collection of OS image files so people can use them with this tool. I think I'm going to slim down a registry (remove all those extra modem driver entries) and include it with the tool. I'm kind of wondering if the registry between the d
  6. I have used linux and love it! But yeah, not appropriate here. BTW, you can reach me at dt@linux.com (really)
  7. Another note: seeing as I removed the power button driver from the Windows image, the power button isn't usable from a WINDOWS PERSPECTIVE. It still works to turn the unit on, bring it out of standby, or hard reset via holding it down. These are all hardware interrupts that function without that driver. The one ability you lose, is the ability to hit the button while the unit is running and have it turn off or standby. That means you either have to turn the car off (or disconnect ext power) or hold the button down if you really want to manually turn it off. I never have to do this though,
  8. Ok, this image may also include my engine management software from this thread in it: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=24459&start=30#p192051
  9. I'm pretty sure I pulled the image off of my unit directly, don't remember exactly how. It worked for me and I haven't had many comments on here in a while so I haven't been messing with it much lately; just been enjoying my modified image. I paid for the 3.0 update when it came out so mine started from 3.0. Ok, I just went and found a random image laying around and posted it online for you: http://www.mediafire.com/file/tuijnxmg2yi/just%20for%20testing.zip I don't know exactly what's in it, but it's based off of 3.0. This doesn't obviously change the applications and whatnot (t
  10. For anyone who doesn't just want to use the avic-modder, I can also just post my personal cooked image for my F500. It includes .net cf 2.0, some extra drivers, and auto launches leet launcher and core player since we mainly use it for music. It also removes the driver for the power button which prevents it from shutting down all the way when you turn your car off. I then have an app I wrote (also included and auto-launched in the image) that polls the power and hibernates when it detects a change in power state (car turned off). Works well...
  11. Physically move it. It came with a ac power adapter. It's a F500, maybe you didn't realize that one. It's not a "mount in the dash" type.
  12. How and why do you have your avic hooked up to your PC? I develop the software for the avic on my pc and debug via usb on the avic.
  13. Well, I wrote the avic-modder that you can use to mod the AVIC's OS, or I can just do any modifications you'd like for you. I also have experience getting another engine management/OBDII logger app running and successfully communicating via the AVIC's usb port. I'll help any way I can. I don't have a unit for you though, sorry. Wife's already mad about how often I have the thing connected to my PC verses being in the car "where it belongs".
  14. No problem. Yes, the point was to avoid all the problems with testmode and to add things like .NET Compact Framework. I don't know where your OS Image files are if they aren't in the obvious places. Sorry!
